Batter Up for Rupp Game Tonight in Ashburn
April 22, 2016
This evening, Briar Woods and Stone Bridge will honor the memory of Gavin Rupp with the Batter Up for Rupp game. Rupp was an amazing young man who passed away from brain cancer in 2013 at the age of Gavin was extremely popular in the Ashburn community, and became a strong advocate for pediatric cancer funding research. He was also an amazing athlete who participated in multiple sports but baseball was his true love. He played with or against most of the players currently on the Briar Woods and Stone Bridge baseball varsity and junior varsity teams. He would be a sophomore at Briar Woods this year.
The junior varsity game was moved to Thursday at Stone Bridge to allow both teams and their families to attend both nights. The JV game at SB also honored Gavin.
Gavin’s family has started IPromise15, and sponsors the IPromise15 scholarship, which is awarded to a student interested in health sciences and pediatric oncology. Briar Woods and Stone Bridge are selling T-Shirts and accepting donations to IPromise15.
Gavin always wore number 15.
Tonight’s game will honor the memory of Gavin Rupp and highlight the amazing impact he had on the Ashburn community and the boys participating in the game.
