As we near the end of 2023, our staff would like to take a look back at the standout players and standout moments from the Virginia/DC High School Season. We have selected five end of the year categories where we will pick out the ten best players/moments for that specific category.
After we presented numbers two through ten of the best breaking balls from the 2023 high school season, we want to highlight the 2023 VA/DC High School Rewind: Best Overall Hammer. Coming in at the top overall spot is VCU commit and EC Glass ace Cooper Campbell. In 2023, Campbell was half of the two headed monster that was he and Michael Harpster (ETSU). We saw Campbell multiple times during the high school season, as he was a highly coveted uncommitted arm for a large portion of the spring. Campbell's ability to spin it at will seperates him from most of his peers, and the shape and effectiveness of the pitch makes him the recipient of the 2023 Best Hammer.

Campbell gets the start for Glass. Has shown the usual ability for spin. Gets a big K in the second to get out of a jam. Comets lead 1-0 heading to top of the third.#PBRIsThere #VHSLRegion4D pic.twitter.com/126DKeeRV9
