As we near the end of 2023, our staff would like to take a look back at the standout players and standout moments from the Virginia/DC High School Season. We have selected five end of the year categories where we will pick out the ten best players/moments for that specific category.

This is the final day and final category of the 2023 Best of High School Rewind. We finish it off with the Best Clutch Moments from 2023. Today we look at the #2-10 most clutch moments of the high school season and we will cap off this series with the biggest moment from 2023 at 6 pm tonight.

On May 20th, the Steward Spartans finished their unbelievable run in the VISAA DII playoffs with a victory over Greenbrier Christian. The Spartans ran through a gauntlet of teams and talent, defeating Atlantic Shores, Highland School, and the GCA Gators. It would have been a tough task without big time performances on the mound from Michael Lewis, Zachary Williams, and an MVP performance from Nate Kumper in the championship game.

The Mills Godwin Eagles ran through a gauntlet of talent on their way to capture the first ever Commonwealth Classic Championship Belt. The Eagles got big outings from Garrett Mason, Luke Smyers, Hunter Ross, Zach Boyd, Hank Piersol. Mason went deep into the first game versus Greenbrier Christian, mowing through the Gators lineup. Justin "Juice" Tobin and Cole Powers came up in some big spots, as well as fellow senior Caelan Funk and junior Eric Capps. The Eagles knocked off then #1 Freedom (South Riding) before moving to the championship to defeat what would eventually becom the back to back 4A State Champion, Hanover Hawks.
