Outlook:
Staunton River is coming off an outstanding 2014 regular season that saw them falling in the Conference 31 semi-finals and just missing the 3A West playoffs. The 2015 Golden Eagles should be stronger as they return most of their starting position players and the majority of their pitching staff. The lineup will be led by Scott Ellis (OF, 2015), Daniel Scott (OF, 2015), Luke Davis (MIF/RHP, 2015), Adam Woolridge (MIF/RHP, 2015), and Jake Divers (MIF/RHP, 2016). The pitching staff will be led by Collin Watkins (CIF/RHP, 2015) and Cody Shell (OF/P, 2015). The Golden Eagles’ core group of seniors have been playing together for a long time and they have outstanding chemistry on defense and do a good job of putting pressure on opposing defenses when runners are on base. If Staunton River can get shut down pitching when they need it, they will be a team to be reckoned with in a very deep Conference 31 and will be dangerous if they advance to the 3A West playoffs.
