As we prepare for the upcoming 2015 high school season, we will be taking a preseason glimpse at programs from around the state.

Outlook:
Poquoson is coming off of an outstanding 2014 season that saw them win Conference 25 and then go deep in the 3A playoffs before losing in the 3A State Championship game to Loudoun Valley. The Islanders graduated their best player from that team, shortstop Chase Pinder (Clemson) and will need to find new leadership in 2015. The lineup will be led by Drew Watkins (CIF) and Trey Hicks (IF, 2016). The Islanders do bring back three pitchers, including State Championship game starter Cole Jackson (RHP/MIF, 2017) and the team should have a strong defense this spring. If Poquoson can generate consistent offense this year, they should be competitive again in Conference 25 and the Bay Rivers District and could be a threat in the 3A East.
