Outlook:
Oscar Smith is coming off of a solid 2014 season which saw the Tigers when a playoff game for the first time in over 30 years. Optimism is in the air as 2015 gets underway and the Tigers return 7 starting position players from last year’s squad. The line-up will be led by seniors Thomas Packert (MIF/RHP, 2015), Mitchell Grawey (OF, 2015), Daniel Quan (MIF/2015) and junior Andrew Poirier (IF/RHP, 2016). The pitching staff has to replace ace Tadd Ennis, but will have a chance to be successful behind experienced arms Packert, Tyler Morgan (LHP/1B, 2016), and Kody Comparto (RHP/CIF, 2015). The Tigers will be fundamentally sound and strong defensively and if their pitching staff can successfully replace Ennis’ workload, Oscar Smith can build on last year’s breakthroughs and be a competitive team in the Monitor-Merrimac Conference and the 6A South.
