Over the coming months, Prep Baseball Report Virginia/DC will take a look back at the 2015 season for each school that finished the spring in the final 2015 Power 25. In each article, we will not only recap the successful seasons of these 40 schools, but highlight the individuals who drove that success and preview what the outlook is for each team in 2016.

Season Recap: Cosby finished the the regular season fourth in its conference and then got hot in the playoffs, winning the Conference 3 Tournament and making a deep run in the 6A South Regional Tournament that took them to the semifinals before running into Western Branch. The Titans finished the 2015 season with 19-6 overall record. The Titans relied on pitching and defense throughout the season as they held opponents to one or fewer runs in twelve of their games.
Key Performers:
+Jake Huggins (2015, VMI)-Huggins contributed to Cosby’s dominance on the mound and is at VMI as a pitcher, but he was a big offensive contributor for Titans last spring, hitting .359 while holding down first base. Huggins was named to the Second Team All-Conference 3.
+Zach Mort (2015, George Mason)-Mort anchored the Titan rotation, going 8-2 with a save while compiling a 0.71 ERA over 78 innings of work. Mort was named to the Group 6A Second Team All State.
+Matthew Pita (2015, VMI)-Pita is also now a Keydet, and also had a strong year at the plate, hitting .354, while playing centerfield for the Titans. Pita was named to the Second Team All 6A South Region.
+Breslin Wiley (2015)-Wiley was among the team leaders in hitting, batting .400 during his senior season and helping to propel a deep Titan lineup.
2016 Outlook:
The Titans will have an inexperienced, but talented, team as they look to replace their three Division I graduates. While they lost those key pieces, they do bring back a big chunk of their lineup, including catcher Michael Johnson (2017), infielders Brandon Rash (2017) and Luke Paczewski (2016, Bridgewater). Ethan Williams (2018) returns behind the plate and outfielders Trey Vossler (2017), Bryce Fitzgerald, and Jacob Long are also back. Joe Hunt (2017) and Christian Hague (2016) will step into bigger roles on the mound as they look to replace the innings that Mort threw. The Titans relied on their pitching to hold opponents down last year, if the offense can step forward they should again be one of the top teams in the 6A South.
