Season Recap: Atlantic Shores Christian started the 2015 season 10-0 and captured the Metro Conference Championship, ultimately finishing with a 23-4 overall record. The Seahawks advanced to the VISAA Division II playoffs and reached the Semi-Finals before being eliminated by The Miller School.
Key Performers:
Trey Celata: (OF/RHP, 2015, Hampden-Sydney) Celata anchored the Seahawk rotation and had a 7-0 record while posting a 1.02 ERA on the mound. Celata also contributed at the plate, hitting .324 with two home runs. Celata was named First Team VISAA Division II All-State.
Justin Towles: (RHP, 2016) Towles formed the second part of a dominant one-two punch on the mound for the Seahawks, posting an 8-1 record with a 1.90 ERA.
Casey Turner: (C, 2016) Turner was the centerpiece in Atlantic Shores Christian’s offense, hitting .505 on the season. Turner also provided plenty of thump, clubbing four home runs and driving in 34 runs. Turner was named Second Team VISAA Division II All-State.
Jonathan Sawyers: (LHP/1B, 2018) Sawyers had a strong sophomore year at the plate, hitting .405 with one home run while driving in 25 runs.
2016 Outlook: Atlantic Shores Christian is returning the majority of their starters this year, with Celata being their major loss to graduation. The Seahawks will add two junior transfers to their roster and should again be one of the stronger teams in Division II with a lineup that will again be anchored by Turner and Sawyers and a rotation led by Towles.
