+Season Recap:
Chantilly followed up their 2014 State Championship Game appearance with a return to the 6A State Championship in 2015. The Chargers won the Concorde Conference and were the 6A Northern Region and 6A State Runners-Up, losing both of those games to State Champion James Madison. Chantilly compiled a 21-7 during the season and the Chargers went undefeated against rivals Oakton and Westfield.

+Key Performers:
Jared DiCesare
: (3B/RHP, 2016, George Mason) DiCesare played a tremendous defensive third base for the Chargers while hitting .309 and driving in 16 runs on the season. Chantilly also used him as it’s closer, and he had a dominant season, compiling a 3-1 record with five saves over 28.2 innings while striking out 27 batters and pitching to a microscopic 0.24 ERA.

Matt Hogle: (RHP, 2015) Hogle was named the the Concorde Conference Co-Pitcher of the Year and went 9-1 on the season with one save. Hogle was consistent every time out and gave the Chargers a chance to win every game he pitched, posting a 1.04 ERA over 60.2 innings pitched.

Andrew Kim: (OF, 2015, Christopher Newport) Kim was an on-base machine at the top of the Chargers’ lineup, hitting .344 while drawing 23 walks and scoring 22 runs. Kim also covered a lot of ground while playing a great defensive centerfield.

Brett Norwood: (MIF, 2016) Norwood was an athletic defender at shortstop for the Chargers and hit in the three hole for most of the season, hitting .421 while scoring 23 runs and driving in 14 more.

+2016 Outlook:
The 2016 Chargers look to continue Chantilly’s recent run of success as they seek to return to the State Tournament for a third straihgt season and bring home the school’s first Championship. Chantilly is returning six starters to their lineup, which will be anchored by DiCesare, Norwood, Matt Padeway (C, 2016, Salisbury), and Forrest Wagner (OF/LHP, 2016, Roanoke) as well as a large group of seniors from within which to fill their other holes. The Chargers will need to find some pitching depth as they look to replace their ace, Fogle, and defend their Concorde Championship while going deep in the Regional Tournament in what will be a very competitive and deep 6A North this spring.
