TEXAS - On January 6th, we continued our 2024 Preseason with the San Antonio Preseason ID at Cornerstone Christian HS. The day started off by the players running a 60, then throwing from their defensive positions, followed by each player a round of batting practice. Following BP, Pitchers threw bullpens, where TrackMan data was recorded. Today, we take a look at the scouting reports from all partcipants at the event

Ryan Mason, O'Connor (TX), 2025
Positional Profile: RHP Mason is an eye catching PO that shows some major upsides from the mound. His velo is creeping up making him a guy to keep an eye on as he enters his junior year.
Body: 6-3, 199-pounds.
Delivery: High 3/4 release, works from stretch. Steps straight out, gets hips around really well. Subtle leg kick.
Arm Action: RH. Really solid arm action, almost looks effortless.
FB: T88, 86-88 mph. Has some natural movement, consistency will come with practice. T2173, 2066 average rpm.
CB: 71-74 mph. Good spin rate, sharp late break plays well off of the elevated FB T2515, 2354 average rpm.

Positional Profile: C/3B Albarado is a well built freshman that shows intriguing upsides both behind the dish and at the plate. His power numbers are impressive for his age, and will continue to increase along with his overall consistency.
Body: 5-9, 210-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Balance set up, slightly open. Some bat movement pre pitch. Long swing path, one hand finish. 68.5 mph bat speed with 12 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 91 max exit velocity, averaged 83.4 mph. 336' max distance. A lot of natural strength which shows in impressive power numbers.
Arm: RH. C-75 mph. INF-81 mph. OTT release, solid arm action. Arm strength will come as he matures.
Defense: 2.00-2.04 pop times. Recieves the ball well, smooth transition.
ATH: 7.53 runner in the 60. 1.81 and 4.19 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Austin Shreve OF / 3B / Pieper Ranch, TX / 2025
Positional Profile: OF/3B Shreve is an all around athlete showing some impressive numbers on both sides of the ball. He should start getting some looks from schools looking to add some power to their lineup.
Body: 6-2, 172-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Strong and wide stance. Big front foot stride. Really good swing path. Takes top hand to the baseball. 66.4 mph bat speed with 23 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 76.4 mph. 348' max distance. Notable EV as a junior. Defintely a kid to keep an eye on throughout his last two seasons of high school ball.
Arm: RH. OF-87 mph. Good ball trajectory, strong arm.
ATH: 7.02 runner in the 60. 1.70 and 3.92 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Grant Kinzel 1B / 3B / La Vernia, TX / 2025
Positional Profile: 1B/3B Kinzel has a big frame that provides elite bat and hand speed. Produces some attention grabbing results at the plate.
Body: 6-4, 233-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Balance set up, slightly open. Simple load with hands moving back pre pitch. Quick through the zone leaving little margin for error. 78 mph bat speed with 12 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 100 max exit velocity, averaged 90.1 mph. 371' max distance. Power numbers have D1 potential epscially as his consistency improves.
Arm: RH. INF-81 mph. Stiff throwing motion, loosen up a bit and use the strong lower half.
Defense: Flat footed, work through the baseball.
ATH: 7.15 runner in the 60. 1.80 and 3.99 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Aiden Shreve, Pieper Ranch (TX), 2026
Positional Profile: RHP/1B Shreve is a physically appealing hard throwing righty sophomore that shows confidence and consistency from the bump while maintaing composure and efficiency.
Body: 6-3, 192-pounds.
Delivery: Clean and effective delivery, works out of the stretch. Big leg kick, hinge at the hips.
Arm Action: RH
FB: T84, 83-84 mph. Has a natural cut to it, plays most up in the zone. T2169, 2095 average rpm.
SL: 69-71 mph. Early movement, needs to follow through to get the late break to catch hitters chasing. T2151, 2093 average rpm.
CH: 74-77 mph. Works the opposite way as his FB, falls off to the right. T1859, 1780 average rpm.

Aaron Castillo C / RHP / Veterans Memorial, TX / 2028
Positional Profile: C/RHP Castillo is approaching the beginning of his high school career and is already showing some impressive upsides as a two-way player. He's a big kid with impressive number for just being a '28.
Body: 5-11, 233-pounds.
Delivery: 3/4 release, starts with hips open. Big leg kick, stays mostly up right.
Arm Action: RH. Cleand and efficient arm action. Incorporate lower half more to create more power.
FB: T80, 78-80 mph. Comfortable pitch, consistent and smooth. T2340, 2231 average rpm.
SL: 65-69 mph. Good shape, finish the pitch to increase accuracy and movement. T2437, 2382 average rpm.
CH: 72-73 mph. Plays well of the FB. As he becomes more comfortable, this pitch will be very useful. T1186, 1152 average rpm.
ATH: 8.03 runner in the 60. 1.94 and 4.45 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.
Hit: LHH. Open stance, vertical barrel. Hands start at/below shoulders. Agressive swing, not super consistent but as he makes adjustments will be a quality XBH hitter. 69.1 mph bat speed with 7 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 82.5 mph. 341' max distance. Elevates the ball really well, generates a lot of power with lower half.
Arm: RH. C-76 mph. INF-80 mph. Uses all arm, side arm release.
Defense: 2.02-2.14 pop times. Good mechanics, tempo and quicker release will come with time.
ATH: 8.03 runner in the 60. 1.94 and 4.45 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Positional Profile: RHP/OF Register is just entering his sophomore season and yet looks like he's been around for a while. His mechanics are very impressive and are proving to be very effective.
Body: 6-1, 150-pounds.
Delivery: High 3/4 release, big stride and leg kick to generate power with lower half. Overall a very clean delivery.
Arm Action: RH. Effective and efficient arm motion, follows through really well.
FB: T87, 86-87 mph. Plays up in the zone, very firm and flat for the most part. T2195, 2048 average rpm.
CB: 69-72 mph. Really good shape, sharp and snappy break. T2361, 2233 average rpm.
CH: 79-81 mph. Consistent and comfortable pitch, good late fall off. T1710, 1611 average rpm.

Positional Profile: 2B/3B Ames is a rising sophomore that offers upsides both in the field and at the plate. His consistency and michanics will help him improve significantly as he continues to gain size and strength the next couple of years.
Body: 5-8, 131-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Wider stance, starts with bat on shoulder. Preloads weight on back leg. Uses a lot of upper body, needs to incorprate legs more. Consisten contact and efficient swing path. 61.9 mph bat speed with 16 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 79 max exit velocity, averaged 63.1 mph. 214' max distance. Drives the ball well, power will come as he fills out his frame.
Arm: RH. INF-66 mph. 3/4 delivery, gets on top of the ball well.
Defense: Soft hands, works through target. Flat footed fielding the ball.
ATH: 7.62 runner in the 60. 1.86 and 4.23 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Bode Allan RHP / SS / San Antonio Christian School, TX / 2025
Positional Profile: RHP/SS Allan is a pitcher only with two pitches that work really well off of one another. His velo numbers are impressive and will likely continue to climb through his senior year.
Body: 6-1, 155-pounds.
Delivery: Works out of the windup, high 3/4 release. Uses lower half well, slight fall off to first base side.
Arm Action: RH. Solid arm action, smooth and loose throughout delivery.
FB: T87, 85-87 mph. FB is firm, tends to play up in the zone. Solid velo. T2184, 2120 average rpm.
SL: 75-77 mph. Plays like a slurve, really good shape. Falls out of zone late. T2503, 2331 average rpm.

Cameron Benson OF / SS / Byron P Steele II, TX / 2025
Positional Profile: OF/SS Benson is a tall and lengthy two-way player with great potential as he matures physically and works hard in the off season.
Body: 5-9, 134-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Balance set up, preloads hands. Barrel stays in the zone for a long time resulting in consistent contact. Quick hands. 65.6 mph bat speed with 15 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 84.3 mph. 326' max distance. Drives the ball well, consistent barrell contact.
Arm: RH. INF-78 mph. OF-82 mph. 3/4 delivery, uses all arm. Needs to utilize lower half, good accuracy.
Defense: Fields the ball out front and attacks well.
ATH: 7.10 runner in the 60. 1.78 and 4.00 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.
Delivery: High 3/4 efficient and clean delivery. Works from the stretch, slightly open. Shorter stride.
Arm Action: RH. Stiff arm motion. As he loosens his arm path, velo will jump up.
FB: T79, 76-78 mph. More of a rising fastball playing up in the zone. T2066, 2001 average rpm.
CB: 67-70 mph. Good shape, late break. Plays well off the rising FB. T1805, 1734 average rpm.
CH: 70-71 mph. Plays well off of FB, falls out of zone late T1674, 1618 average rpm.
ATH: 7.10 runner in the 60. 1.78 and 4.00 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

TJ Byrd RHP / 3B / Brandeis, TX / 2026
Positional Profile: RHP/3B Byrd is a tall and lengthy sophomore PO with a good three pitch selection. As he develops and matures into his frame he will likely see his numbers start to improve.
Body: 6-0, 142-pounds.
Delivery: 3/4 delivery, works from the windup, compresses body to engage lower half. Brings hands up along with his stride leg.
Arm Action: RH. Clean arm action, front foot contact in sync with release point. Uses a lot of arm.
FB: T79, 78-79 mph. Consistent pitch, has some natural movement. T2091, 2035 average rpm.
CB: 64-65 mph. More horizontal than vertical movement, looks like a slider. T2325, 2251 average rpm.
CH: 67-69 mph. Similiar arm motion to the fastball, should get some misses if mixed up well. T1767, 1673 average rpm.

Brody Cole SS / RHP / Salado, TX / 2025
Positional Profile: SS/RHP Cole is an all around athlete showing some major potential on both sides of the ball. He is very mechanicaly sound, and is just scraping the surface of the ballplayer he can be.
Body: 5-8, 157-pounds.
Hit: LHH. Weight back, slightly open. Bat pointed towards pitcher. Smooth swing, doesn't let his hands drop below shoulder. Catches top half of the baseball. 65.4 mph bat speed with 13 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 91 max exit velocity, averaged 83.8 mph. 263' max distance. Really solid contact, some power starting to show. Will likely see increased EV and distance as he continues to get stronger.
Arm: RH. INF-84 mph. OF-85 mph. Strong arm for not using much of lower half. Mostly accurate.
Defense: Looks comfortable and natural, smooth in and out of the glove.
ATH: 6.55 runner in the 60. 1.63 and 3.65 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Noah Eckles OF / RHP / Reagan, TX / 2026
Positional Profile: OF/RHP Eckles is an incoming sophomore that is beginning to prove some of the work he put in this past offseason in the weight room and at the cages.
Body: 5-10, 193-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Wider stance, slightly open. Barrel is flat, small load step. Short and quick through the ball, consistent swing. 65.7 mph bat speed with 19 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 79.7 mph. 321' max distance. Barrels it up often, shows some XBH potential. Incorporate lower half to release full power potential.
Arm: RH. OF-80 mph. Solid arm action, slight recoil. Throws through target.
ATH: 7.29 runner in the 60. 1.77 and 4.07 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.
Delivery: Throws from the stretch, OTT release. Slightly closed stance. Momentum pulls him towards first.
Arm Action: RH. Clean arm action, plant foot and release point look good.
FB: T80, 78-80 mph. Release point is hard to pickup for hitters. Pretty firm. T1879, 1820 average rpm.
CB: 66-70 mph. Has some late break, plays well of located properly. T1928, 1673 average rpm.
CH: 72-73 mph. Looks a lot like his FB. Good pitch to keep the batter guessing. T1712, 1649 average rpm.
ATH: 7.29 runner in the 60. 1.77 and 4.07 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Austin Garritano SS / 2B / Champion Boerne, TX / 2026
Positional Profile: SS/2B Garritano is a switch hitting sophomore that has some big upsides as he continues to fill out his frame and becomes more comfortabel from both sides of the plate.
Body: 5-11, 162-pounds.
Hit: SH. RH: wider stance, a lot of pre pitch bat movement. Hands well below shoulders. LH: More comfortable and natural stance, Hands are in a good position to attack the baseball Notable loft in swing resulting in high fly ball percentage. LH swing looks more natural. 64.3 mph bat speed with 10 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 70.0 mph. 308' max distance. Consistently elvates the baseball, could be a XBH hitter as he puts on size and strength.
Arm: RH. INF-77 mph. 3/4 to sidearm release, accurate arm.
Defense: Athletic position, attacks and recieves it good.
ATH: 7.32 runner in the 60. 1.75 and 4.03 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Cole Johnson LHP / 1B / Pieper , TX / 2026
Positional Profile: LHP/1B Johnson is a south paw sophomore with velo numbers that are starting to be intriguing from the left side. He has a solid frame for a PO and will see his number continue to climb over the next couple of years.
Body: 5-11, 193-pounds.
Delivery: Clean and efficient 3/4 delivery. Very controlled, not trying to overdo it. Solid command.
Arm Action: LH. Natural throwing motion, smooth all the way through.
FB: T83, 81-83 mph. Rising FB, runs up and in on hitters T2174, 2107 average rpm.
CB: 67-71 mph. Good overall shape, finish the pitch to see more break. T1867, 1787 average rpm.
CH: 73-75 mph. Located well to catch the more aggresive hitters out front. T1782, 1706 average rpm.

Reese King 2B / C / Midland Christian School, TX / 2026
Positional Profile: 2B/C King is a sophomore catcher with a stocky build offering huge potential in regards to offensive power and a great leader of the defense.
Body: 5-6, 170-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Balance and wider setup, little bat wiggle. Big leg kick. Drops back shoulder resulting in elevated ball flight. Barrell stays in zone for a long time, one handed finish 64.1 mph bat speed with 15 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 86 max exit velocity, averaged 78.1 mph. 304' max distance. Decent power for a sophomore, EV and distance will increase as he matures and grows.
Arm: RH. C-70 mph. INF-73 mph. Uses mostly arm, 3/4 release. Pretty accurate.
Defense: 2.04-2.18 pop times. Good transition on throwdowns. Solid foot work and mechanics.
ATH: 7.31 runner in the 60. 1.75 and 4.02 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Samuel Miller C / 3B / Boerne Champion, TX / 2025
Positional Profile: C/3B Miller is a junior with the ideal stature and mechanics you love to see in a catcher. He has a strong arm as well as a smooth swing from the left side.
Body: 6-1, 198-pounds.
Hit: LHH. Balance set up, slightly open. Hands are lower, some knee bend. Catches the ball at full extension. Quick hands direct to ball. 69.1 mph bat speed with 12 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 83.6 mph. 327' max distance. Mostly LD hitter, solid power when barreled up good.
Arm: RH. C-77 mph. INF-79 mph. Strong, accurate and consistent arm both in the field and behind the dish.
Defense: 1.97-2.03 pop times. Great footwork, obvious he has put in work this past offseason.
ATH: 7.77 runner in the 60. 1.82 and 4.30 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Positional Profile: OF/2B Potter is a sophomore with a great understanding of the game, and as he fills out his frame and becomes more confident will likely be a top player to watch.
Body: 5-10, 150-pounds.
Hit: LHH. Weight back, slightly open. Preloads his front foot as pitch is coming. Static bat vertically. Long and smooth swing, quick hands. 60.8 mph bat speed with 15 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 86 max exit velocity, averaged 79.0 mph. 280' max distance. Consistent barrel contact, power will come as he learns to shorten swing and me more direct to the ball.
Arm: RH. OF-81 mph. Solid arm action, needs to use more of his body to help him throw through his target.
ATH: 7.36 runner in the 60. 1.78 and 4.08 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Damien Rivas 3B / 1B / BOERNE - SAMUEL V CHAMPION H S, TX / 2027
Positional Profile: 3B/1B Rivas is an incoming freshman looking to make his mark early in the high school scene. He adapts well to what the game gives him and overall looks pretty solid for a '27.
Body: 5-9, 173-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Balance and open set up. Back elbow up, a lot of bat wiggle. Very efficient swing, barrel stays in the zone for a long time. 65 mph bat speed with 22 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 75.0 mph. 312' max distance. Very agressive hitter, needs to let ball travel but has XBH potential.
Arm: RH. INF-75 mph. Accurate arm, finish through target and utilize lower half to get it there quicker.
ATH: 7.28 runner in the 60. 1.77 and 4.06 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Amed Rondon 3B / 2B / Vista Ridge, TX / 2024
Positional Profile: 3B/2B Rondon is enetering his last season of high school ball and has all of the physical measureables you could want in a college ball player. He has a powerful swing with a good arm in the field so he should be poised for a solid final season.
Body: 5-10, 171-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Narrow stance, starts with weight slightly forward. Bat on shoulder. Gets front foot down early to get the lower half going. Quick getting around on the ball, big pull hitter. 72.1 mph bat speed with 7 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 91 max exit velocity, averaged 84.4 mph. 350' max distance. Barrels the ball consistently, gap to gap hitter resulting in a lot of XBH.
Arm: RH. INF-77 mph. Good arm action, natural and smooth. Strong and accurate as well.
Defense: Adjusts well, works around the baseball towards his target. Soft hands and clean transition.
ATH: 6.98 runner in the 60. 1.70 and 3.87 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Ethan Rust 2B / SS / Davenport , TX / 2024
Positional Profile: 2B/SS Rust is a scrappy ballplayer with a high baseball IQ due to him being around the game for a while now. He shows the ability to drive the baseball and should be fun to watch him make a name for himself entering his last season.
Body: 5-8, 138-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Balance set up, starts with bat on shoulder. Preloads wrist and fires hands through the zone aggressively. 66.3 mph bat speed with 7 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 76.7 mph. 301' max distance. Decent power when struck well. More of a base hit hitter which should rack up some RBI's this spring.
Arm: RH. INF-75 mph. Uses a lot of arm, utilize lower half to decrease time in the air.
Defense: Goes and gets the ball rather than letting it come to him, gives him more time to make an accurate throw.
ATH: 7.40 runner in the 60. 1.80 and 4.07 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Donovan Smith OF / OF / Churchill , TX / 2024
Positional Profile: OF/OF Smith has developed a lot since the last time we saw him. He is strong with very impressive numbers from the plate.
Body: 6-0, 185-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Balance set up, preloads hands pre pitch. BIg leg kick to get the lower half going. Very good bat speed, needs to stay under control. One hand finish. 75.2 mph bat speed with 6 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 85.9 mph. 351' max distance. Drives the ball really well. As he gains consitency and stays within himself, he will be a major contributor to an offense.
Arm: RH. OF-83 mph. Decent arm strength, will come with more long toss work.
ATH: 7.01 runner in the 60. 1.72 and 3.92 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Positional Profile: C/2B Vasquez is approaching his first year at the high school level and already shows to have a solid baseball IQ. As he puts on size and strength, his number will begin to increase.
Body: 5-3, 135-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Wider and closed stance. No bat movement, ready to attack the ball. Long swing, needs to shorten up and catch the top half of the baseball. 61.8 mph bat speed with 18 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 83 max exit velocity, averaged 77.0 mph. 293' max distance. Consistent contact, power will come with size and strength.
Arm: RH. C-69 mph. INF-71 mph. Accruate arm, velo will come as he matures.
Defense: 2.09-2.18 pop times. Good mechanics, speed will increase with practice.
ATH: 7.38 runner in the 60. 1.82 and 4.14 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.
