TEXAS - On January 7th, we continued our 2024 Preseason with the North Houston Preseason ID at The John Cooper School in The Woodlands. The day started off by the players running a 60, followed by each player taking a round of BP, then throwing from defensive positions. Following the defensive portion, Pitchers threw bullpens, where TrackMan data was recorded. Today, we take a look at the scouting reports from all partcipants at the event

Tanner Drda, Memorial (TX), 2026
Positional Profile: OF/RHP Good athlete with a good frame. Showed well in all aspects, but really shined on the mound. Plus arm talent with feel for full arsenal of pitches. Intriguing power potential at the plate.
Body: 6-1, 176-pounds.
Delivery: Clean delivery. Slower paced until he seperates the hands then he really gets going down the mound. Throws from the ground up with good sequencing.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 arm action. Clean out of the glove and repeats it well.
FB: T88, 86-87 mph. Two distinct fastballs. Has the 4 seamer with good ride and carry, and then throws his sinker with great metrics. T2458, 2373 average rpm.
SL: 76-79 mph. Big sweeping potential with his slider. Throws it with some power. T2386, 2158 average rpm.
CH: 82-84 mph. Threw the change with great hand speed. A bit firm sometimes, but good movement and plays well off the fastball. T1878, 1796 average rpm.
ATH: 7.12 runner in the 60. 1.73 and 3.95 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 28.60 max vertical.
Hit: RHH. Wide setup without much stride. Picks the heel up and puts it back down. When he stays connected he showed the ability to drive the ball with authority to pull side and up the middle. Can cast the swing some, and come around it. Good bat speed. 69.7 mph bat speed with 17 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 78.1 mph. 335' max distance. Good Bat speed plus a good frame, Drda should develop some in game power as he continues to mature.
Arm: RH. INF-88 mph. OF-90 mph. plus arm from all positons.
Defense: Showed well in the outfield and on the dirt. Profiles as a RF/3B combo.

Auston Ware OF / LHP / Clear Springs, TX / 2025
Positional Profile: OF/LHP Bouncy athlete who has a plus arm from the outfield as well.
Body: 5-8, 154-pounds.
Hit: LHH. Athletic stance from the left side. No negative load. Loads into his back side as he has a slight leg kick to get going. Direct path, with plus bat speed. Can impact the baseball to all fields. 69.2 mph bat speed with 13 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 80.4 mph. 308' max distance. More gap power right now, but with his plus speed, he should have his fair share of extra base hits.
Arm: LH. OF-94 mph. plus arm, plays anywhere on the field.
Defense: Can handle center at the next level.
ATH: 6.89 runner in the 60. 1.73 and 3.90 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 29.30 max vertical.

Jackson Pullen SS / 3B / Lumberton, TX / 2025
Positional Profile: SS/3B Pullen is an athletic RHH infielder from the golden triangle. Good rhytm in the box allows him to show off his present gap power. Good defender on the dirt, profiles best at 2nd or 3rd right now.
Body: 5-8, 170-pounds.
Hit: RHH. 50/50 setup. Some natural rhythm in the box. A really good swing fundamentally. Shows good pull side pop with plus bat speed and a really good swing. Stays through the zone for a long time. 66.4 mph bat speed with 8 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 82.1 mph. 339' max distance. Athletic hitter who is only going to get stronger. Think he will hit for a high avg. with a lot of extra base hits.
Arm: RH. INF-83 mph. Avg. arm strength, but very accurate. Can handle 2nd or 3rd.
Defense: good actions on the dirt. Fundamentally sound.
ATH: 7.25 runner in the 60. 1.74 and 3.99 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 29.10 max vertical.

Chase Bradley C / OF / The Woodlands , TX / 2026
Positional Profile: C/OF Bradley is an excellent defender behind the plate. He is a good athlete and moves well behind there. He makes his pitchers better and is a leader. At the plate, the power is developing and his swing continues to tighten up as he gains strength.
Body: 5-11, 161-pounds.
Hit: RHH. High hands and wide base to setup. He has a toe tap for his load and gets his hands back at the same time. Has some loft to his swing. Shows some pull side power. Could stay in the zone longer, but shows bat speed. 66.1 mph bat speed with 13 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 79.5 mph. 294' max distance. Shows avg. power to the pullside. Has more strength to gain and should continue to grow into some power.
Arm: RH. C-71 mph. avg. arm behind the plate with a quick release.
Defense: 1.96-2.09 pop times. plus defender behind the plate for his grade. Tough and intelligent with strong wrist. He can really receive and block.
ATH: 7.09 runner in the 60. 1.77 and 4.00 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 29.70 max vertical.

Hunter Kocurek C / OF / Northside Falcons - Home School, TX / 2025
Positional Profile: C/OF The switch hitting catcher showed good pop from both sides of the plate with above avg. bat speed. He showed a good, accurate arm from behind the plate and was right around a 2.0 pop time every throwdown.
Body: 5-6, 173-pounds.
Hit: SH. Switch hitter, slight leg kick. Really loads up into the back hip. Has some loft in the swing from both sides. 67.9 mph bat speed with 28 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 79.4 mph. 343' max distance. Has pull side power from both sides of the plate.
Arm: RH. C-72 mph. Above avg. arm from behind the plate. Accurate as well.
Defense: 2.01-2.12 pop times. Good receiver of the baseball, should make his pitchers better.
ATH: 7.66 runner in the 60. 1.77 and 4.20 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 23.90 max vertical.

Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 5-10, 182-pounds.
Delivery: works exclusively out of the stretch. Has some drop and drive to his lower half with an OTT delivery.
Arm Action: RH. Quick arm with OTT arm action.
FB: T82, 80-82 mph. FB has decent riding life and should be able to play up in the zone. T1896, 1808 average rpm.
CB: 69-70 mph. Has good shape and plays well off the FB at the top part of the zone. More of a strike stealer than a swing and miss pitch right now. T2098, 2055 average rpm.
SL: 67-69 mph. More horizonal action than his CB. similar pitch. T2091, 2090 average rpm.
CH: 74-76 mph. Best secondary offering. Throws with good hand speed and kills the spin. Good command. T1378, 1264 average rpm.

Jake Earnest OF / LHP / Memorial, TX / 2026
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 5-9, 174-pounds.
Hit: LHH. Athletic setup, narrow setup, slightly open stance. Loose wrists with some natural rhythm. Direct path to the ball. Line Drive oriented swing, showed the ability to use the whole field. 58.1 mph bat speed with 18 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 82.8 mph. 297' max distance. More contact over power right now. Pushes a little with the hands at the beginning of the swing. As he gets stronger and keeps the hands back, the power will continue to develop.
Arm: LH. OF-84 mph. Avg. arm from the OF with good carry.
Defense: Moved well in the Outfield, projects at one of the two corner spots.
ATH: 7.22 runner in the 60. 1.77 and 4.04 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 29.80 max vertical.

Brody Fortunato 2B / SS / Klein Oak , TX / 2027
Positional Profile: 2B/SS Has every action you are looking for in a freshman. Very polished swing with some bat speed. Good actions in the field, looks like he will be able to stick up the middle as long as he continues to get quicker.
Body: 5-8, 148-pounds.
Hit: LHH. Wider setup with a small stride. Does a good job of loading the wrist and getting in a powerful position. Direct path with some slight loft in the swing to the pull side. Swing projects to have some thump as he gets stronger. 66.2 mph bat speed with 7 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 82.9 mph. 316' max distance. Big fan of the swing, he just needs to continue to get stronger. I thnk he will hit at a high level.
Arm: RH. INF-79 mph. Avg. arm across the diamond, going to have to get stronger to play on the left side.
Defense: Good actions and knows how to field the ball moving every direction. Foot speed will determine his home on the dirt.
ATH: 7.42 runner in the 60. 1.75 and 4.09 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 25.70 max vertical.

Ethan Foster LHP / 1B / Rusk, TX / 2026
Positional Profile: LHP/1B
Body: 5-10, 170-pounds.
Delivery: Hands over the head to start the delivery. Does a good job getting loaded in the back hip. High 3/4 slot.
Arm Action: LH. Shorter arm action that he repeats well from a 3/4 slot.
FB: T83, 78-81 mph. Low 80's offering that has potential for more as there is plenty of strength to be gained. T2232, 2113 average rpm.
CB: 67-70 mph. When he threw it out front, it showed good depth and late life. T2345, 2271 average rpm.
SPLT: 71-73 mph. Throws it with good arm speed and it has the tumbling action you are looking for. Showed good command to the arm side with the pitch.

Brady Harris SS / 2B / Lake Creek, TX / 2027
Positional Profile: SS/2B Harris has good actions with everything he does on the diamond. Still growing into his body and gaining strength, Harris will continue to see his stock rise as he gets more physical.
Body: 5-7, 129-pounds.
Hit: RHH. 50/50 setup with not much movement. Minimal stride. Good rhythm with the hands. Direct path to the ball. Showed ability and willingness to use the whole field. Will get more thump as he gets stronger. 62 mph bat speed with 19 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 84 max exit velocity, averaged 76.7 mph. 245' max distance. More contact over power right now. But can use the whole field and will gain some power as he gets older.
Arm: RH. INF-79 mph. Avg. arm strength right now, but very accurate.
Defense: Good actions on the dirt, glove work makes me think he will be able to stay up the middle long term.
ATH: 7.65 runner in the 60. 1.85 and 4.22 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 29.50 max vertical.

Charlie Heard C / 3B / John Cooper, TX / 2027
Positional Profile: C/3B Physical backstop who has the potential to be a plus defender behind the plate. Shows some power potential behind the plate.
Body: 5-11, 193-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Traditional, balanced setup. Good job loading into his backside before he gets his swing off. Short, direct path to the ball. Stays through it for a long time, and shows the ability to backspin the ball. 62 mph bat speed with 9 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 84 max exit velocity, averaged 77.3 mph. 246' max distance. As he gets stronger, he should grow into some real pull side power. Also shows ability to stay short and use the whole field.
Arm: RH. C-72 mph. INF-77 mph. Avg. arm strength right now. Should continue to improve
Defense: 2.08-2.18 pop times. Has all the makings of being a plus defender behind the plate. Strong wrist and good receiver. Intelligent player behind the plate.
ATH: 8.50 runner in the 60. 2.02 and 4.63 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 22.30 max vertical.

Jack Henning SS / 3B / Houston Christian, TX / 2024
Positional Profile: SS/3B Physical Corner Infielder that showed some big power potential at the plate. Multiple balls hit over 100 mph. Also showed good actions on the dirt. Profiles a power hitting 3rd baseman.
Body: 6-2, 213-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Good rhythm in the box. Goes knee to knee for his load, and really gets on his backside. Fast hands and some natural strength allows Henning to really do damage to the baseball. Clean path, stays in the zone for a long time. 76.6 mph bat speed with 15 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 102 max exit velocity, averaged 85.0 mph. 375' max distance. Plus bat speed and excellent exit velo numbers show Henning has a chance to have some real power at the next level.
Arm: RH. INF-82 mph. Avg. arm strength across the diamond. Didn't air it out, has more in the tank.
Defense: Moved well laterally taking ground balls. Threw from different platforms. Soft Hands.
ATH: 7.42 runner in the 60. 1.78 and 4.10 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 28.90 max vertical.

Olly Houston OF / 3B / The Woodlands College Park, TX / 2026
Positional Profile: OF/3B The soph. from The Woodlands shows a lot of potential at the plate. Good bat speed and showed some pop to the pull side. Needs to continue to work on foot speed.
Body: 5-9, 179-pounds.
Hit: RHH. 50/50 set up with a slight leg kick to get the swing going. Got on plane quick and kept barrel in zone for a long time. 67.1 mph bat speed with 18 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 87 max exit velocity, averaged 79.2 mph. 302' max distance. Shows some pull side power, needs to continue to gain strength to match the bat speed.
Arm: RH. INF-81 mph. OF-80 mph. Avg. arm that profiles best on the corners.
Defense: Fielded everything cleanly on the dirt. Needs to improve foot speed to stay on dirt, or profiles best to corner outfield position.
ATH: 7.92 runner in the 60. 2.01 and 4.46 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 26.80 max vertical.

Dinshaw Irani SS / RHP / The Woodlands College Park, TX / 2025
Positional Profile: SS/RHP The Jr. from College Park showed some twitch in the batter's box with plus rotational acceleration. With his golf background, makes sense he can really rotate. He mvoes well laterally on the dirt. Needs to get stronger and his numbers will jump in a hurry.
Body: 5-8, 136-pounds.
Delivery: Clean delivery, Stays on line. Higher leg kick.
Arm Action: RH. High OTT slot
FB: T73, 71-72 mph. If it gets more velo, will play at the top of the zone. T1993, 1819 average rpm.
CB: 57-60 mph. T1763, 1628 average rpm.
CH: 65-68 mph. Good hand speed, throws it just like his fastball. T1434, 1391 average rpm.
Hit: RHH. Wider setup with his weight more on the back side. Hit at the ball instead of through it. Don't feel for contact, just let it rip. 62.8 mph bat speed with 19 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 69 max exit velocity, averaged 56.3 mph. 92' max distance. Needs to get stronger, and create seperation when he strides. Hands drifted with body.
Arm: RH. INF-71 mph. Arm profiles best at 2nd base
Defense: Moved well laterally. Needs to get stronger so he can make all the throws.
ATH: 7.69 runner in the 60. 1.88 and 4.24 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 23.70 max vertical.

Luke Matthews C / 3B / Grand Oaks, TX / 2025
Positional Profile: C/3B The RHH catcher showed good bat speed and power in the batter's box. He flashed an avg. arm behind the plate. Pop time ranged from 2.02-2.12
Body: 6-0, 198-pounds.
Hit: RHH. 50/50 setup. Has the hands away from his body to start. Gets in a good loaded position and hands get back. Barrel stays flat through the zone and he showed the ability to really turn and hit the ball with authority to the pull side. 68 mph bat speed with 25 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 69.8 mph. 329' max distance. Has pull side power from the right side. He has more strength to gain, especially in his lower half.
Arm: RH. C-72 mph. Avg. arm from behind the plate. Needs to keep elbow up when throwing.
Defense: 2.08-2.18 pop times. Avg. Receiver of the baseball. Body needs to quiet a little when receiving.
ATH: 7.81 runner in the 60. 1.86 and 4.32 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 23.80 max vertical.

Angelo Volante OF / RHP / Atascocita, TX / 2025
Positional Profile: OF/RHP A good athlete who can play all over. Volante plays with good energy and can play center field. He has good bat speed to pair with an up the middle approach with present gap power.
Body: 5-7, 139-pounds.
Delivery: Simple delivery. Hands go up as leg goes up. High 3/4
Arm Action: RH. Repeats arm action well. High 3/4 slot. Quick arm
FB: T79, 77-79 mph. True fastball. Has some life to it, could play up in the zone with some more velo. T1995, 1834 average rpm.
CB: 66-70 mph. Good command of the pitch. Showed some depth, will improve as he is able to throw it with more power. T2265, 2226 average rpm.
SL: 69-71 mph. Very similar pitch to his curve. A little more sweeping action to it. T2250, 2229 average rpm.
CH: 68-70 mph. T1515, 1426 average rpm.
Hit: RHH. Feet slightly wider than shoulders. Really loads into back knee and hip before getting his swing off. Short and direct to the ball. Barrel doesn't always catch up, therefore he is at his best up the middle. 60.6 mph bat speed with 12 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 81 max exit velocity, averaged 78.2 mph. 283' max distance. More contact over power right now. Athletic player that will hit a lot of doubles with his approach and speed.
Arm: RH. OF-83 mph. Plenty of arm to handle center or left
Defense: Good defender in Center
ATH: 7.02 runner in the 60. 1.84 and 4.01 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 25.00 max vertical.

Positional Profile: C/RHP Good baseball rhythm and feel. Only a freshman he has mature actions.
Body: 5-7, 210-pounds.
Delivery: Clean delivery, with efficient arm path. Could get into his back side better.
Arm Action: RH. Short, clean arm swing. Throws from high 3/4 slot.
FB: T79, 78-79 mph. True fastball, avg. velo for grade. T1751, 1742 average rpm.
CB: 68-68 mph. Needs to learn to throw with more power. T1843, 1843 average rpm.
SL: Better than curve. Thorws more aggresively.
CH: 70-73 mph. T1352, 1252 average rpm.
ATH: 7.79 runner in the 60. 1.83 and 4.27 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 24.20 max vertical.
Hit: RHH. Narrow setup, and then loads on the back leg with a slight leg kick. Really looking to get the barrel out an dis thinking pull side. Good bat speed. 68.3 mph bat speed with 2 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 78.6 mph. 311' max distance. Projects to have above avg. power. Will have to use the whole field to get into in game more often.
Arm: RH. C-73 mph. INF-82 mph. above avg. arm for his age. Can throw from different angles.
Defense: 2.08-2.18 pop times. Soft hands on the dirt and behind the plate.

Grayson Whatley 3B / RHP / Oak Ridge, TX / 2025
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP Compact athlete who showed some pull side power during bp.
Body: 5-7, 189-pounds.
Delivery: I like the delivery. Fairly compact and simple. Once front foot hits, really gets after it.
Arm Action: RH. Hight 3/4 action.
FB: T72, 71-72 mph. Good command, just needs to continue to work on the velo. T1701, 1639 average rpm.
CB: 62-65 mph. Had some sweeping characteristics when he threw it out front. T1763, 1754 average rpm.
SL: 64-64 mph. Best secondary offering he threw. Throws it with confidence. T1978, 1952 average rpm.
CH: 66-68 mph. Killed the spin well. T1536, 1443 average rpm.
ATH: 8.21 runner in the 60. 1.94 and 4.55 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 21.00 max vertical.
Hit: RHH. Slightly open stance, really loads to back side to get the swing going. Has some loft in the swing. Looking to elevate and pull the ball. 67.2 mph bat speed with 21 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 79.6 mph. 299' max distance. Grayson is trying to elevate the ball with authority to the pull side. Could work on letting the ball travel more.
Arm: RH. C-64 mph. INF-75 mph. Avg. arm in the field. Needs to work on gaining grown on his throws from the catcher position.
Defense: 2.20-2.32 pop times. Soft hands and fielded everything clean on the dirt.

Grant Winkle LHP / OF / Legacy Preparatory Christian, TX / 2025
Positional Profile: LHP/OF Projectable frame with some strength. Above avg. athlete.
Body: 5-9, 154-pounds.
Arm Action: LH
FB: T82, 80-81 mph. Good life on the fb. Lot of ASR. More velo coming. T2162, 2037 average rpm.
CB: 67-68 mph. Doesn't throw a very tight breaker yet. Needs to find one to get the spin up and throw with more power. T1724, 1709 average rpm.
SL: 72-74 mph. Doesn't throw a very tight breaker yet. Needs to find one to get the spin up and throw with more power. T1782, 1782 average rpm.
CH: 70-71 mph. Really good pitch. Throws with good arm action. Kills the spin. T1660, 1524 average rpm.
Hit: LHH. Wider setup with a smaller stride. Good rhythm when he loads. Looking to get the barrel out. Top spun a few too many trying to elevate. 66.2 mph bat speed with 5 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 87 max exit velocity, averaged 80.1 mph. 299' max distance. I like the swing. Think there is more power there if he worries about hitting the ball hard instead of lifting it.
Arm: LH. OF-81 mph. Clean arm from the OF, how it is supposed to look.
ATH: 7.20 runner in the 60. 1.75 and 4.01 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 28.20 max vertical.

Dayton Zabodyn RHP / SS / El Campo, TX / 2025
Positional Profile: RHP/SS Keeps getting more physical and continues to grow into his body. Arm continues to get stronger.
Body: 6-1, 189-pounds.
Arm Action: RH
FB: T79, 77-79 mph. Good command with the fastball. Has good riding action. That will continue to improve as velo goes up. T2004, 1928 average rpm.
CB: 64-67 mph. T1860, 1772 average rpm.
CH: 70-70 mph. T1774, 1721 average rpm.
Hit: RHH. Quiet setup. 60/40 on backside. He pushes his hands back to start his load. Really pulls the knob across the body trying to get the barrel out. Looking to elevate the ball. 63.5 mph bat speed with 10 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 83 max exit velocity, averaged 72.1 mph. 279' max distance. There is more juice there. Dayton needs to work on swinging with freedom and not tensing up at contact. His bat speed and exit velo numbers will go up quickly.
Arm: RH. INF-81 mph. OF-84 mph. Arm continues to get better. Accurate with clean action.
Defense: Moves well laterally and fundamentally sound on his groundballs.
ATH: 8.04 runner in the 60. 1.88 and 4.41 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 22.40 max vertical.
