Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Thanks to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season.

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 1 (February 19-24).

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Josh Arquette 3B / C / Kingwood, TX / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 225 / POS: 13 The Panola College recruit had a big week 1 of the season for Kingwood. The Senior had 10 hits in 18 at-bats, including 2 homeruns, 5 doubles 12 RBI and 7 walks.

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Daniel Lopez RHP / SS / SOCORRO H S, TX / 2024 Lopez started his season on the bump with a gem of an outing. He went 7 innings while allowing no hits and struck out 14 along the way. He gave four free passes but allowe no runs. A dominant outing from the senior to kick of the 2024 season.
