TEXAS - On January 3rd, we kicked off the 2024 Preseason with the Dallas Preseason ID at East Field College. The day started off by the players running a 60, then throwing from their defensive positions, followed by each player a round of batting practice. Following BP, Pitchers threw bullpens, where TrackMan data was recorded. Today, we take a look at the scouting reports from all partcipants at the event

Positional Profile: OF/LHP Fowler hit the offseason hard this last fall which showed both phsyically and analytically. His velo and power at the plate have increased substantially since his last showing, and it will be fun to see those numbers continue to improve as he enters his senior year. Body: 5-8, 165-pounds. Delivery: High 3/4 lefty delivery out of the wind-up. Starts with right foot in front of the other. Short stride with big leg kick. Arm Action: LH. Clean and effiecient delivery, no wasted movement. Engage lower half more to increase velo. FB: T84, 81-83 mph. Rising fastball, good lefty tail which will fall away from righty hitters and work in on lefties. T2097, 1966 average rpm. CB: 66-67 mph. Really good shape, falls off hard as it crosses the plate. Will work well off the elevated FB. T2541, 2498 average rpm. SL: 70-70 mph. Looks like a late breaking curveball, little faster than CB which can throw off hitters T2127, 2127 average rpm. CH: 79-79 mph. Very consistent, great pitch to use when facing aggresive hitters. T1334, 1334 average rpm. Hit: LHH. Narrow, slightly open stance. Big front step. Preloads hands. In and out of the zone quick, fires the hips well. 65.1 mph bat speed with 21 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 95 max exit velocity, averaged 87.7 mph. 330' max distance. Generates a lot of power. Consistency will increase as hands catch up to lower half. Arm: LH. OF-88 mph. 3/4 release, strong and accurate arm. Uses full body to throw through target. ATH: 7.29 runner in the 60. 1.83 and 4.06 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 31.00 max vertical.

Positional Profile: RHP/OF Mansell is a well developed sophomre that demonstrates high level speed and power. As he gains more experience at the varsity level school, he will be a prospect worth keeping an eye on. Body: 5-10, 190-pounds. Delivery: High 3/4/OTT release. Works from the stretch, wide stance, hands at hips. Falls off to glove side. Arm Action: RH. Smooth arm action, good range of motion. Front foot in good position at release. FB: T86, 84-86 mph. Has natrual movement, very consistent. T2186, 2001 average rpm. SL: 72-74 mph. Not a ton of movement, late break. Plays well if located outside. T2198, 2064 average rpm. CH: 76-81 mph. Comfortable pitch to throw, looks like fastball and then falls off. T1886, 1751 average rpm. Hit: RHH. Slightly open stance, weight back. Big leg kick, bat on shoulder. Gets around on the ball, quick hands. Falls off balance a little post swing. 74.2 mph bat speed with 13 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 95 max exit velocity, averaged 77.5 mph. 347' max distance. Great potential to be a cleanup hitter as he matures and gains experience. Adjust to strength to create a firm foundation. Arm: RH. OF-89 mph. 3/4 release, strong arm. Arm strength will increase as he learns to use full body. ATH: 7.35 runner in the 60. 1.73 and 4.03 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 25.40 max vertical.

No. 3 Taylor Haddock SS / 3B / Jesuit College Prep, TX / 2026
Positional Profile: SS/3B Haddock is an all around athlete which showed greatly in his metrics. He shows great strength and power for being a '26 and will likely see this numbers continue to climb. Body: 5-10, 179-pounds. Hit: RHH. Balance set up, slightly open stance. Subtle lean back to engage body. Direct to ball, consistently finds the barrell. 70.3 mph bat speed with 10 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 85.7 mph. 311' max distance. Finds the top half of the baseball, big LD hitter with great swing speed. Arm: RH. INF-83 mph. 3/4 release, uses a lot of arm, needs to incorporate legs. Defense: Low center of gravity, quick hands. ATH: 7.32 runner in the 60. 1.78 and 4.05 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 34.50 max vertical.

No. 4 Nicholas Smith SS / 3B / Mansfield Timberview, TX / 2026
Positional Profile: SS/3B Smith showed off the work he put in this past offseason with solid numbers all around. As he continues to stay disciplined and work on some mechanical aspects there will be an increase in overall performance. Body: 5-9, 162-pounds. Hit: RHH. Balance and slightly open stance. Some upper body movement pre pitch. Direct to ball, solid barrell contact. 72.4 mph bat speed with 13 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 95 max exit velocity, averaged 89.3 mph. 343' max distance. Really good power numbers for a sophomore. Should be fun to watch his numbers grow over the next few years. Arm: RH. INF-85 mph. Sidearm release, accurate arm. Defense: Good footwork, light and agile with smooth hands. ATH: 7.40 runner in the 60. 1.77 and 4.07 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 26.00 max vertical.

Positional Profile: OF Montanez is a junior with a great understanding of the game and how to utilize his strength and athleticism to put up some impressive numbers. Body: 5-9, 171-pounds. Hit: RHH. Wider stance, slightly open. Preloads hands as pitch is thrown. Lets the lower half work while the hands follow, one handed finish. 73.4 mph bat speed with 14 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 95 max exit velocity, averaged 88.4 mph. 317' max distance. Gets a lot of power with his legs, barrell consistency will come with more reps. Arm: RH. OF-95 mph. High level arm strength, needs to give his throws a little more air. ATH: 6.84 runner in the 60. 1.75 and 3.86 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 32.80 max vertical.

Positional Profile: C/1B Ogden is a high IQ player with good power making him an ideal candidate at the catcher position. Body: 6-2, 202-pounds. Hit: LHH. Wide stance, front foot open. Starts with bat on shoulder and a small hunch. Hips get through as the hands follow right after. One hand finish. 70.6 mph bat speed with 12 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 84.7 mph. 328' max distance. Power will come as he fills out his frame physcially. Solid contact overall. Arm: RH. C-79 mph. OTT release, strong and mostly accurate. Defense: 2.01-2.04 pop times. Good pop time, good footwork and mechanics. Carson Allen, Canyon (TX), 2026 Positional Profile: SS/RHP Allen is only a sophomore and is already showing huge upsides as a two way player. He has a strong build whcih shows both in the field and at the plate. Body: 5-11, 182-pounds. Delivery: 3/4 release out of the stretch. Linear motion towards the plate, shorter stride. Arm Action: RH. Effiecient arm path, consistent amongst all pitches. FB: T85, 79-85 mph. Firm and consistent, go to pitch. Tends to land up in the zone. T2143, 2088 average rpm. SL: 73-75 mph. Subtle, late break. Needs to locate down/outside part of zone. T2130, 2086 average rpm. CH: 78-81 mph. Works well off the FB. Good arm motion, plays well to mix it up. T1603, 1423 average rpm. KN: 72-73 mph. Super late movement, drops out of the zone. Hit: LHH. Slightly open stance, preloads on backside. Hands start lower. Engages lower half with big front foot step. Straight to the ball, in and out of the zone quick. 75.9 mph bat speed with 15 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 94 max exit velocity, averaged 81.1 mph. 319' max distance. Really good swing speed and power for his age. Potential for XBH type of hitter. Arm: RH. INF-90 mph. OF-92 mph. Strong and accurate arm, uses full body. Positional Profile: 3B/RHP Beauford is a rising freshman with a strong lower half and great potential as he continues to get bigger and stronger. Body: 5-6, 168-pounds. Delivery: OTT release, clean delivery. Falls off a bit. Little knee bend in leg kick. Arm Action: RH. Solid arm action for an 8th grader, lots of potential. Natural movement. FB: T73, 71-73 mph. Plays up in the zone, needs more consistency T1503, 1314 average rpm. CB: 62-64 mph. Good shape, works well off the elevated FB. T1711, 1483 average rpm. SL: 64-68 mph. Great secondary pitch with decent consistency. Late break. T1823, 1698 average rpm. CH: 63-64 mph. Will gain more control over CH as he gets comfortable with it. T1190, 1190 average rpm. Hit: RHH. Balance set up, front foot slightly closed. Hands in good postion to attack the ball Good swing plane, barrell stays in the zone a long time. 58.9 mph bat speed with 12 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 81 max exit velocity, averaged 69.9 mph. 182' max distance. More of a contact hitter. Will be more consistent as he grows and fills out his frame. Arm: RH. INF-73 mph. OF-73 mph. Gramm Davis, Waxahachie (TX), 2027 Positional Profile: C/OF Davis is a taller freshman with great feel for the game while also swinging it from both sides of the plate. Once he fills out his frame over the next few years, he has the potential for some big time juice. Body: 5-11, 164-pounds. Hit: SH. Starts with an open stance, back elbow up. Smooth and consistent swing, slightly elevated. 64.7 mph bat speed with 11 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 79.6 mph. 321' max distance. Cactches the top half of the ball well, high LD percentage. Arm: RH. C-76 mph. OF-82 mph. Strong and accurate arm behind the dish. Works through target well. Defense: 2.11-2.40 pop times. Positional Profile: 1B/3B Evans has all the physical attributes you could want in a high school prospect. His quickness and strength helps him generate a lot of power at the plate. Body: 6-1, 198-pounds. Hit: RHH. Open stance, hands up. Preloads lower half. Short and quick through the ball, great swing speed. 69.3 mph bat speed with 18 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 95 max exit velocity, averaged 84.6 mph. 302' max distance. With more consistency finding the barrel, he will be a great gap to gap hitter. Good EV. Arm: RH. INF-81 mph. Short arm motion from 1st, quick and efficient. Defense: Sits down on the ball well. Good footwork ATH: 6.93 runner in the 60. 1.65 and 3.81 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 27.00 max vertical.

Positional Profile: OF/LHP Furr has a natural feel for the game and shows the ability to drive the baseball with a solid arm from the field for just a sophomore. Body: 5-8, 152-pounds. Hit: LHH. Wider stance, slightly open. Starts with barrell on shoulder. Swing is long, best contact comes with pitches lower in the zone. 63.7 mph bat speed with 11 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 76.6 mph. 312' max distance. Drives the ball well off the barrell, XBH potential as he matures. Arm: LH. OF-87 mph. Uses all arm, needs to throw through target. Positional Profile: C/2B Helmuth is a phsical player that demonstrates impressive numbers in all aspects of his game. Entering his senior season, as he finds his rythym, he will will defintely be a guy to look at closely. Body: 6-0, 200-pounds. Hit: RHH. Open stance, weight heavily distributed on back side. Agressive and fast through the zone, one hand finish. 72.7 mph bat speed with 21 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 99 max exit velocity, averaged 86.7 mph. 350' max distance. Positional Profile: OF/3B Jones is a tall and lengthy sophomore who shows great mechanics at the plate. As he continues to fill out his frame, you will likely see great upsides. Body: 5-11, 159-pounds. Hit: RHH. Balanced stance, bat wiggle pre pitch. Small load step, Consistent swing that finds a lot of barrels. Smooth and adjusts to where pitch is thrown. 60.3 mph bat speed with 3 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 75.9 mph. 253' max distance. Power numbers will increase as he matures physically. Contact is solid. Arm: RH. OF-72 mph. Uses all arm, incorprate full body. Positional Profile: C/1B Laurendine has a solid build with a good frame behind the dish. With some work on speed and agility, he gas great potential to be a key piece for a defense. Body: 5-10, 214-pounds. Hit: RHH. Wide stance, slightly open. Takes hands back far as pitch is thrown. Reaches full extension quick, long swing. 61.3 mph bat speed with 8 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 81.7 mph. 257' max distance. More of a singles hitter, power numbers can increase as he develops in the weight room. Arm: RH. C-64 mph. OTT arm motion, pretty accurate. Defense: 2.50-2.69 pop times. Positional Profile: RHP/OF Posten is a two way talent showing upsides on both sides of the ball with a solid three pitch selection. As he continues to put on size and strength through his last year and a half of ball, his numbers will likely improve. Body: 5-10, 162-pounds. Delivery: OTT release. Works out of the windup, slow and controlled delivery. A lot of bag leg knee bend to create power. Arm Action: RH. Clean and efficient arm action, comes out of hand well. FB: T84, 82-83 mph. More of a rising fastball, plays up in the zone. T2396, 2265 average rpm. SL: 76-77 mph. Good movement, late drop out of the zone. T2294, 2294 average rpm. CH: 78-78 mph. Not super comfortable with it. Will be a great pitch to have to mix it up against better hitters. T1843, 1835 average rpm. Hit: RHH. Preloads on backside, front foot never leaves the ground. Hands drop a bit trying to elevate the ball, smooth and efficient swing. 64.7 mph bat speed with 14 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 74.6 mph. 338' max distance. Not a power hitter, but finds the barrell often resulting in a high LD percentage. Arm: RH. OF-86 mph. High 3/4 release, uses lower half well. Throws through his target. Positional Profile: 2B/3B Robbins is about to start his freshman year and is already showing some great upsides including phsycial attributes, swithc hitting ability, hand speed, and some arm strength. He will continue to develop as he fills out. Body: 6-0, 165-pounds. Hit: SH. Stands straight up, stance is very open. Late barrell movement behind head. Full extension is reached early, drives the ball well when he stays within himself. 65.4 mph bat speed with 6 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 86 max exit velocity, averaged 75.1 mph. 300' max distance. Potential to be an XBH hitter from both sides as he grows and matures physically. Arm: RH. INF-80 mph. Longer arm motion, sidearm release. Decent arm strength. Defense: Quick hands, needs to sit down on the ball more as he works through his target. Positional Profile: OF/2B Sparks is approaching his senior season and is looking to put up some solid numbers to peak colleges' interest. As he gets into a rythym this spring, it should be interesting to see what happens. Body: 5-8, 157-pounds. Hit: RHH. Wide and open stance, alot of bat wiggle. Barrell stays in zone for a while, nice two hand finish. 63 mph bat speed with 9 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 78.4 mph. 237' max distance. More of a base hit batter, not trying to swing for the fences. Arm: RH. OF-78 mph. Uses mostly arm, get legs involved and throw through target. ATH: 7.35 runner in the 60. 1.77 and 4.03 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 28.80 max vertical.

Positional Profile: C/3B Villa is a junior with great potential to be a power hitting catcher like most teams dream of. As he gains consistency, he could be a great weapon to have behind the plate. Body: 5-9, 180-pounds. Hit: RHH. Balance set up, weight shifts forward before pitch is thrown. Powerful swing, reached extension at contact driving the hips through. 67.2 mph bat speed with 6 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 91 max exit velocity, averaged 82.8 mph. 332' max distance. Demonstrates the ability to elevate and dirve the ball well. Arm: RH. C-74 mph. Good height on throwdown with great accuracy. Defense: 2.04-2.12 pop times. Good footwork and mechanics. Quick release.
