WACO, TX - On Saturday, October 12 & Sunday, October 13, we hosted the Canes Southwest Scout Weekend at McLennan CC in Waco. Saturday, 2027 & 2029 grads went through a workout then played three games. 2026 & 2028 did the same format on Sunday. Over 100 prospects were in attendance over the two days. Impressed with the organization and the approach they have towards development of players. There were quality players from all classes, here are a few of note.

Braylon Hobbie 3B / SS / Magnolia, TX / 2027 Rankings  StateRank: 81 / POS: 5 Big kid, width to shoulders and back. Will add strength. Solid swing showing hard contact. Infield hands work. Moves fine to baseball, arm will develop. Will continue to improve as infielder as he matures. Has the look of a corner infielder in future. RHP…Arm works well with arm speed developing. FB has nice carry. Secondary flashes quality. Nice 2 way player to watch develop.

Yandel Santos C / 2B / Grand Oaks, TX / 2027 Good build, will add strength. Shows bat speed with some length to swing. Solid contact in game play. Did a nice job of receiving in games. Accuracy to throws present, expect raw arm strength to develop.

Trent Costales OF / 3B / Cornerstone Christian, TX / 2028 Big kid for 2028 class. 6’5 218. Shows bat speed/bat strength present with hard contact. Will have raw power in future. Moves fine to baseball, breaks down well to field. Corner OF type. RHP Arm works fine. Strikes with FB with feel for secondary. Impressive for a HS Freshman.

Carter Mara C / OF / Paradise, TX / 2026 Good physical build for adding strength. Athletic. Bat speed present. Received well in game play. Shows raw arm strength with solid pop times. Flashed quality tools during the day.

Fisher James 1B / LHP / Burleson Centennial, TX / 2029 Good approach to hit showing solid contact. Like the bat speed he showed and ability to handle barrel. Defensively feet work well with nice hands/actions. Arm works fine. On the mound, cutoff circle, decent strike thrower. Interesting to watch as a hitter as he matures and gains strength.

Mason Trent SS / 2B / Burkburnett, TX / 2029 Aggressive hitter showing bat speed. Solid contact in game play with quality AB’s. Showed actions on infield moving well to baseball with feet, getting into position. Arm works fine.

Jake Zappe RHP / 1B / Celina, TX / 2027 Will be big and strong physically as he continues to add strength. Shows hard contact in game play with developing ability to drive baseball. Contact consistency will be improved, power potential. Defensively at 1st moves well, shows solid hands. On the mound, fair arm action. Decent FB when down in zone.

Griffin McClosky LHP / OF / Lake Creek, TX / 2027 LHH…Solid swing with ability to handle barrel. Line drive contact. LHP FB showed natural LHP’s tail with ability to spin baseball showing solid action. Love the upside with added strength physically.

Landon Mains 3B / RHP / Caney Creek, TX / 2029 Big kid who will add strength as he matures. Some length to swing, shows bat speed is present. Solid contact in game play with a couple of hard hits. Defensively hands are fine, expect actions and arm strength to get better as he matures and learns.

Kaden Saqr 2B / SS / Bridgeland, TX / 2027 Solid contact with nice approach to hit. Couple of hits in game play. Defensively has solid hands. Undersized player who makes up for it with effort and approach to game. Impressive kid, love the make up. Type of player that makes everyone better due to his desire.

Kade Rodgers 2B / RHP / The Woodlands, TX / 2027 Shows bat speed with some length to swing. Nice contact with barrel. Infield, hands are fine, expect footwork to improve. RHP arm works. FB shows developing carry. Ability to spin baseball present. Nice upside to this 2 way player.

Canon Fitts OF / RHP / Santa Rita, TX / 2029 Solid approach to hit. Good swing showing ability to use hands, hard contact. Found barrel in game. In the OF, moved fine to baseball. On the mound, showed nice arm action.

Grant Hindsley OF / RHP / Robinson, TX / 2027 Good build/frame to grow into. Showed bat speed, hard contact. Some length to swing with pull approach. Upside present. Moved fine in OF, arm works well, will continue to develop arm strength. On the mound. Arm works. FB has solid plane, will throw harder. Flashes CB action.

Jaden Sandoval C / 2B / Melissa, TX / 2027 Good build physically with room to add strength. Shows bat speed with some length to swing. Hard contact. Showed solid raw arm strength behind the plate. Expect pop times to improve with raw arm strength development and learning to stay behind baseball for carry.

Carter Sutphen 1B / RHP / Oak Ridge, TX / 2029 Solid swing showing hard contact in game play. Shows athleticism behind plate. Developing behind the plate. On the mound, arm works fine. Interesting to watch develop as he matures.

Slade Brown OF / RHP / Magnolia, TX / 2027 Good build/frame to add strength. Line drive contact, ability to impact baseball will come with added strength. 3 hits in game play with quality AB’s. Moved well in OF. Arm worked fine, anticipating raw arm strength will improve. On the mound, arm works fine with fair arm speed. Secondary will improve.

Amaury Burgos SS / RHP / Legacy Christian Academy, TX / 2027 Solid build. Athletic. Showed actions at SS. Arm worked well throwing baseball. Expect him to have an avg arm in future as he matures. On the mound, arm works fine showing arm speed. FB has nice plane showing some arm side life. CB shows spin. Change with fade action.

Easton Moore SS / RHP / Burleson Centennial, TX / 2029 Nice, projectable body. Good arm action. Strike thrower. Flashes feel breaking ball. Love the ability to throw strikes with good arm action.

Luca Golden SS / 2B / Loyola College Prep, LA / 2028 Bat speed present with good approach to hit. Quality AB’s in game play. Infield shows developing actions, hands work. Feet work fine. Will continue to develop as infielder. On the mound, arm works. Strike thrower with FB. Developing feel for secondary.

Kaleb Haggard 2B / OF / Ector, TX / 2026 Athletic. Projectable build. Bat speed with good approach to hit. Solid contact in game play. Defensively will continue to develop.

Caden Pryor OF / RHP / Loyola College Prep, LA / 2028 Shows bat speed with solid contact off barrel. Moves well to baseball in OF. RHP…shows some arm speed which will continue to improve. Strikes with FB present. Feel for CB. 2-Way player showing upside.

Luke Leishman 1B / LHP / Mckinney, TX / 2028 LHP. 6’3 190. Will add strength to good pitchers frame. Throws from lower slot with natural LHP’s tailing action to both sides of plate. Developing feel for secondary. Like the upside on the mound.

Cooper Cohoon C / SS / Decatur, TX / 2028 Solid receiver, shows quickness to footwork throwing with solid release. Arm strength developing. Will be fun to watch develo behind the plate in future. Shows some bat at plate with double to RCF. Infield…actions present with solid hands. Feet work getting body into position to field. Carry to throws present. Pitched also, did a nice job of throwing strikes with FB. Versatility on the baseball field.

Asher Martin 3B / RHP / McKinney Boyd, TX / 2028 Long, lanky build for the class of 2028 grad. 6’2 150 Will continue to grow and mature for good pitchers body. Arm works fine showing nice arm speed. FB is around zone. Shows developing feel for secondary. Like the upside on the mound.
