The Woodlands vs. Oak Ridge
February 28, 2019
THE WOODLANDS, TX - No. 11 The Woodlands hosted No. 24 Oak Ridge at Scotland Yard on Wednesday night to open up district play in 15-6A.
The matchup on paper between The Woodlands 2019 RHP Will Swope (No. 17 in 2019 PBR Texas rankings and No. 128 in 2019 PBR overall rankings, committed to Texas) and Oak Ridge 2019 RHP Logan Letney (No. 56 in 2019 PBR Texas rankings and No. 462 in 2019 PBR overall rankings, committed to TCU) did not disappoint on Wednesday night.
Swope was able to command both his fastball and slider, not allowing a walk the entire night. The lone earned run against Swope came in the 5th on an RBI single from Oak Ridge 2019 SS Carson Ogilvie. Oak Ridge added an unearned run in the 7th inning. Offensively, the Highlanders were led by 2020 OF/LHP Cameron Caley (Houston commit), who was 2-3.
Letney mixed his fastball and curveball well, using his curveball in any count for most of the evening. As the game went on, he was able to establish a rhythm with his fastball. Blane Romero (No. 98 in 2019 PBR Texas rankings, committed to McNeese State) finished off the game for Oak Ridge with two strikeouts to record the save.
