Team Texas Future Games Notes: Game Two

WESTFIELD, Ind.- President Theodore Roosevelt surely didn’t have baseball in mind when he spoke of big stick diplomacy, because the Team Texas bats did not speak softly.

Matched up against an equally talented Team Louisiana, Team Texas returned to the Grand Park Events Center for its second outing of the 2018 Future Games with a well-rounded attack. Scouts saw plus-stuff on the mound, with special defensive plays being made with every opportunity. However, the bats made the most noise.

The Team Texas lineup pushed across 10 runs in this morning, with every kid in the lineup doing their part. The one hundred-plus college coaches in attendance were treated to plenty of hard contact amongst the group. More of what we saw in Game Two:

Nate Price, C/OF, Mansfield Legacy HS, 2020

Price added two more hits to his Future Games resume after recording a knock during yesterday’s opening ballgame. His first single, a rocket through the 5-6 hole, was followed by a base hit into right field later in the afternoon. Price stands 5-foot-9 at 170 pounds, but his bat has consistently played bigger than his frame. Price’s swing is very quick-twitch, and he has tremendous feel for his unique rhythm at the plate. Strong at the point of contact, he always seems to know where his barrel is, and the carry of his contact proves that point. As well, he was a force behind the plate and received high-end velocity with ease. If such an award were to exist, Price could very well walk away as Team Texas’ most valuable player at the Future Games, given his production.
