Super 60 Spotlight: Ty Hodge

By Andy Sroka
Illinois and Wisconsin Assistant Director

On Sunday, Feb. 7, Prep Baseball Report will host the 19th edition of its prestigious, flagship event: the Super 60 Pro Showcase. Since the event’s inception in 2003, more than 300 players have been selected in the MLB Draft, including 22 first-round picks and 25 second-rounders.

We started our our march toward the Super 60 earlier this week, by highlighting the prospects set to join us, shining a light on their impressive player profiles that they've groomed through their high school years and beyond.

Scouting Report

2/5/20

One of the few 2021s in attendance at the Super 60, Hodge started the day by running a 6.53 in the 60-yard dash and he followed it up with hard contact, including exit velos as high as 101 mph. The PBR Florida Executive Director, Doug Freeman, had this to say about Hodge's performance: “The only 2021 in attendance and would be surprised if he is back again next year as one of the top athletes in the class. Twitchy runner with a ton of all around athleticism. Moved well defensively and has a huge ceiling.”

11/4/17

This was our first chance to see recent Texas A&M commit, 2021 Ty Hodge (College Station HS). Hodge stands 6-foot-1, 165-pounds, with a high waist and lean-muscular, athletic frame. The right-handed hitter makes strong contact and has an advanced feel for the barrel. In his second at bat, he laced a line drive into the left-centerfield gap, hustled to second base, avoided the tag with a nice head first swim move, moved up to third on a dirt ball read, then scored several pitches later on a wild pitch.
