2018 UIL Team Preview: North Side
January 2, 2018
The Texas high school season kicks off on February 19, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on January 26, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.
Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.
We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. If you don’t see your team’s season preview make sure your head coach fills out his Preseason Questionnaire.

SEASON PREVIEW
The North Side Steers return a solid core of players in OF/LHP Christian Poullard, 3B/C Emilio Ledezma and SS/RHP Alex Torrez. Last year, Poullard was a 1st Team All-District Outfielder and hit .308 and stole 21 bags. Coach Jason Starnes will also need to rely on some young talent in the lineup, including corner infielder Ivan Gomez, and several sophomores that saw varsity action as freshman, Eric Seagovia, Eric Tovar, and Adrian Gonzalez. Keep an eye on speedy freshman Andrew Anthony Aguiano, who has an athletic frame at 6-foot-3.
