2018 UIL Team Preview: Hyde Park
December 15, 2017
The Texas high school season kicks off on February 19, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on January 26, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.
Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.
We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. If you don’t see your team’s season preview make sure your head coach fills out his Preseason Questionnaire.

Season Preview
The Panthers return two quality starters from last years team that finished 23-10 en route to a first place finish in TAPPS Division 2 Conference. 2018 RHP Seth DeVries stands 6-foot-2, 200-pounds with a sturdy frame, and is ranked No. 91 in Texas 2018 Class. The Pennsylvania recruit pitches in the upper 80's with his fastball, and we have seen him top out at 91 mph. He has a swing and miss curveball with tight spin and good depth at 74-77 mph. His changeup shows arm depth and fade at 78-80 mph. DeVries and his counterpart, William Burke, look to log significant innings this year to defend their conference title.
