SHERTZ, TX – A chilly South Texas night wasn’t going to bring down the fact that it was the first official night of Texas High School baseball action. The Buffalos of Clemens High School took on the Apaches of Antonian College Prep High School to start the season off. It was a high scoring affair, with the Antonian pulling away with a narrow victory of 14-13.

Trenton Reynolds, LHP, Antonian College Prep, 2019
Uncommitted – A very polished arm with advanced feel for a three-pitch mix, Reynolds threw a heavy dose of strikes and came within one pitch of having an immaculate inning at one point. At 6-foot-1, 168-pounds, Reynolds has a frame that is highly projectable. After a 4x state championship career in cross-country, Reynolds is ready add to his frame and enhance his already-sharp arsenal of pitches. His fastball, an 80-84 mph offering with a lot of late arm-side running action, is his staple pitch, and it is complimented by a late-sinking circle-changeup that clocks in at 72-74, and a sweeping curveball at 65-68. Reynolds struck out 3 in his 2 innings of work, allowing an unearned run and 2 hits.

Zach Sasser, 3B, Clemens High School, 2020
Uncommitted – Sasser had a nice showing at the plate, putting together multiple competitive at-bats and showing some serious pop with double that he smoked in the left-center gap. Although listed at 6-1 170, Sasser looks to have put more weight on his frame, and he looks the part of a potential power-hitting 3B as he stands in the box. He has good hands through the swing and gets through a ball quickly.
