SCOUT NOTES

Arlington A’s 2020 D.Acton

2020 LHP Colin Hudson (Flower Mound Marcus HS)
This is the second time I’ve seen Hudson throw this summer, the uncommitted left-hander looked sharp on Sunday morning. Had a better feel for repeating the timing of his delivery this outing and showed control of all three pitches as a result. Colin was throwing a ton of strikes sitting 80-83 with the fastball, using the curveball to put hitters away and flashing some changeups. Hudson has more velocity in him for sure and was up to 85 last time I saw him. He pitches from the stretch and does a good job driving off his bag leg. Lands closed but does a nice job utilizing his glove arm to help create good angles and work down hill.

Arlington A’s 2020 Ashford

2020 INF/RHP Dylan Mach (Aledo HS)
At 6’2” 170lbs the uncommitted Mach has your prototypical projectable frame that pairs well with his actions and athleticism. Starts with a slightly open stance using a small leg kick and gather as he loads. Creates separation and is able to steepen his shoulder and bat plane to drive inside pitches. Body naturally organizes itself during the swing to create space for the barrel through contact. Mach’s leaned back two handed finish and utilization of the back leg looks similar to the way Carlos Correa will finish at times, if you will.

Stix South 2021

2021 LHP Tyler Woolery (Midlothian HS)
The uncommitted lanky left-handed pitcher is an arm to keep tabs on over the next couple of years. Worked at good tempo between pitches, stays on the mound gets the ball back and is ready to go. Featured a higher leg kick that he helped used for timing and rhythm when breaking his hands at the gathering point in his delivery. Woolery has a loose arm with the ideal arm swing and scap load. Does a nice job directionally down the mound with his lower half and featured an efficient lead lead block that is common in high velocity throwers. Fastball was 76-78, with a handful of 80s mixed in. Also showed a curveball at 60-61, and a changeup at 68-69. All signs point to some jumps in velocity as he continues to develop.
