GRAND PRAIRIE, TX - The Coppell Cowboys and the Naaman Forest Rangers met in the first round of the Texas High School Baseball Playoffs at Air Hogs Stadium on Thursday night. Coppell dominated a five inning game behind a no-hit shutout by 2017 LHP John Kodros. The Louisiana State recruit fanned ten Ranger hitters, and faced one over the minimum to put The Cowboys one win away from clinching the series.
The Coppell offense exploded for thirteen runs in the first three innings, led by 2019 OF Blake Jackson. The Texas Tech recruit was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI. 2017 2B Mason Holt, a Navarro JC recruit, drove in four runs and was 2-for-3 with a triple. The Cowboys scored three runs in the first, six in the second, and four in the third. Seven of the nine starters collected hits en route to the 13-0 win. Game 2 of the series is set for 8:00 pm on Friday at Air Hogs Stadium in Grand Prairie.
