KERRVILLE, TX – Fourteen innings of theatrics unfolded in the Texas Hill Country last night as two teams ranked in the PBR Texas Power 25 met in a game that very well may decide the district champion. The No. 19 ranked Antlers of Kerrville Tivy (10-1/22-4) took on the No. 22 ranked Chargers of Boerne Champion (9-2/22-4). The stands were packed at the time of first pitch, with a handful of professional scouts in attendance, and everyone got their fill of baseball for the evening.

From an offensive prospective, it was slim-pickings during the first ten innings of the competition. Strong pitching and clutch defense from both sides kept the game scoreless through 10 innings.

Tivy sent uncommitted junior RHP Brady Delgado to the mound, and he put on a show. Delgado threw ten innings for the Antlers and did not yield a single run. He scattered three hits and a walk and tallied eight strikeouts during the performance.

The Chargers sent out senior Texas A&M commit, LHP Chris Weber, to the mound to start the game, and although he didn’t take his outing as far as Delgado, he threw six scoreless innings, only giving up two hits while walking three and striking out seven. The Charger’s turned to uncommitted junior SS/RHP Michael Gresham in the seventh inning and he ended up contributing a seven-inning performance for his team. Although three runs did cross during Gresham’s time on the mound, none were earned. He gave up three hits, five walks, and collected seven strikeouts on the night.

The stalemate was broken in the top of the 11^th when Tivy turned to uncommitted senior RHP Hunter Grimes. Boerne Champion’s sophomore TCU commit, Luke Boyers, smashed a line drive to the right-center wall for a one-out standup triple. He was scored on the very next pitch by Gresham, who put a ball over the head of the left fielder for an RBI double.

Tivy thought their night might be done when they had two men on and two outs and Delgado hit a ground ball to the shortstop, but an error at first base kept the game alive and allowed a run to score.

The Chargers tacked on two more runs in the top of the 12^th after a two out walk and a double by senior UIW commit Jordan Thompson put men in scoring positions, and uncommitted junior catcher Ramiro Cervera plated both runners with a 2RBI single. Grimes exited after 1.2 innings and turning the ball over to senior Texas commit, 2B/RHP Lance Ford, who quickly put an end to the inning. Ford remained on the mound the remainder of the game. He did not allow any hits, only a single walk, and prevented any more Chargers to cross the plate.

Tivy answered back in the bottom of the 12^th. A leadoff walk followed by a single by uncommitted sophomore Cole Mixon put men in scoring position. After an infield error moved everyone up a base, Lance Ford hit a sac fly to score another run for Tivy, and tie the game at 3. 

The score remained tied in the thirteenth inning, but Tivy was able to put the game to rest in the 14^th. Champion's reliever issued a walk, followed by a hit batter, and a sacrifice bunt; that's when 2021 C Travis White hit a walk-off single to give Tivy the 4-3 in extra innings. With the win, Tivy moves to 11-1 in district, 23-4 overall, with a 2 game lead on Champion and Dripping Springs.
