CYPRESS, TX- Throughout the fall, PBR's staff will be on the road covering baseball across Texas. Games, workouts, practices, camps and more.  The "boots on the ground" philosophy of PBR is well represented with the coverage throughout the Fall of 2017. Hunter Pence Baseball has a talented group 2019 graduates, with multiple players in that class already committed to D1 schools. Today, we bring you more 2019 grads from HP's Scout Day.

MICHAEL CERVANTES

SS / RHP / CLEAR SPRINGS, TX / 2019

Cervantes would be a great addition to a recruiting class with his ability to defend on the infield and handle the bat with gap power. He has quick footwork, smooth actions, soft hands and showcased advanced glove action with a quick exchange during the infield workout. He threw 80 mph across the diamond and gets rid of the ball quickly from multiple arm slots. Offensively, Cervantes has balanced setup with smooth rhythm, hands stay relaxed as he loads with a simple leg kick, lands into an athletic launch position. Quick bat and clean path through the zone with barrel on plane and a loose, high finish.

PARKER PEREZ

2B / 3B / KLEIN COLLINS, TX / 2019

Perez is an athletic player with a lean frame at 5-foot-11, 158-pounds. He has loose hands at the plate with good rhythm and an aggressive hack with fluid lower half. Line drive approach with an exit velocity of 85 mph, but look for more power to come as he continues to add strength in the next year. On the infield he has quick-twitch actions with smooth footwork and rhythm through the ball. Made a nice play up the middle with a quick transition. Clean, quick release in his throwing motion with an easy arm swing at 79 mph across the diamond.

JARED BARTA

RHP / 1B / CUERO, TX / 2019

Barta has a strong, projectable frame with broad shoulders at 6-foot-4, 225-pounds. A two-way player and right-handed, Barta threw 86 mph from the outfield and posted an exit velocity of 89 mph, showing good leverage and power during batting practice. On the mound, the right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a long arm stroke and quick arm back to front. Although his fastball only topped out at 83 mph, he did throw 86 on the infield, and could see a jump in velocity in the future.
