CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - We had a fantastic trip down to south Texas for the first event in Corpus Christi. Roughly thirty players attended. Here is the outfield analysis.

 

OUTFIELD

Dave Wilson, 1B/OF, Akins HS, 2019
Wilson has a strong, muscular frame at 6-foot-1, 205-pounds. The right-handed hitter was on a mission during batting practice, inflicting damage as he impacted the baseball and launched three home runs. Starting from a nuetral stance with his hands set over his back shoulder, he pushes back, then strides forward as his back knee starts to transfer and his hands slot into the hitting zone before he uncoils the full meausre of raw strength on a slightly uphill plane with a top exit velocity of 93 mph. In the outfield, Wilson threw 91 mph from a high slot with some effort. At first base, Wilson plays low with a wide base and his hands out front. Quick first step with a strong arm across the diamond with a top velocity of 88 mph.

Aaron Munson, OF/RHP, Claudia Taylor Johnson HS, 2020
Munson has a lean-strong frame at 5-foot-10, 150-pounds. Started the day with a 7.28 60-yard dash, he has a quick first step that allows him to get to full speed quickly. The left-handed hitter has an aggressive hack with loose-strong hands that produce an top exit velocity of 86 mph. Simple, relaxed rhythm as he loads back and cocks the barrel. In the outfield, Munson’s athleticism translate well as he plays through the ball with smooth footwork and an athletic crow hop, then throws with an ultra-quick arm stroke with a top velocity of 90 mph.

Parker Tennill, SS/OF, Calallen HS, 2020
Tennill has a projectable frame at 6-foot-1, 184-pounds. The right-handed hitter showed strength at the plate during BP with hard contact and lift from a tall setup. Loads with a knee-to-knee leg lift as he triggers his hands back into a front arm bar, then replaces his stride foot, landing balances. Quick hips transfer his weight with strength at contact and a quick hands through the zone provided a top exit velocity of 84 mph. Even though he posted a top velocity of 85 mph from the outfield, Tennill has the skill set that translates on the infield, with smooth footwork and soft hands that play well out front. Clean transition into his throwing motion, his arm works well from different slots with feel and accuracy, to go with a top velocity of 82 mph. Although he worked out in the outfield, Tennil looks good on the infield, showing the kind of actions that stand out for a bigger kid. The overall measurable do not jump off the page, but the actions and swing make him a player to follow.

Hunter Nevilles, OF/RHP, Calallen HS, 2019
5-foot-10, 172-pound frame. The right-handed hitter has quick hands at the plate and took a solid round of batting practice with a simple, balanced approach, with a short, clean path through contact, and an exit velocity of 88 mph. In the outfield, he shows off a strong arm with true carry and a top velocity of 84 mph. A two-way player and right-handed pitcher, Nevilles topped out at 85 mph, working mostly 80-84. Working from a hig-¾ slot with a long arm swing, Nevilles utilizes a drop-and-drive delivery, landing in line with an athletic finish and quick hand out front. Spun his curveball at 70-72 mph with early break and 12/6 shape. Changeup comes out of the same tunnel with fastall arm speed, flashing depth at 72-74 mph.

Tyler Henrich, OF/RHP, Venus HS, 2021
Henrich has an athletic, wiry frame at 6-foot, 145-pounds. The young, left-handed hitter’s barrel stays in the zone a long time, making consistent hard contact during batting practice with a top exit velocity of 80 mph. Starting from a nuetral stance with good flex in his lower half, he loads with a reverse leg lift as he pushes back and triggers his hands. Front foot glides forward as he walks away from his hands while he stays behind the baseball as the barrel works through the zone on a flat, inside-out path. In the outfield, Henrich plays through the ball with smooth footwork and a clean exchange as he uses an athletic crow hop to throw from an over the top slot with a long arm swing and top velocity of 82 mph.

Jose Amador, OF/LHP, King HS, 2020
5-foot-9, 140-pound, wiry frame. The left-handed hitter starts from an open, slightly crouched stance, then loads back as he lifts his hands and raises up while using a knee-to-knee load. Strides closed as the barrel works on a slightly uphill plane with a top exit velocity of 81 mph. In the outfield, he plays through the ball with quickish footwork and clean exchange before throwing from a high-¾ slot with a top velocity of 84 mph. A two-way player and left-handed pitcher, Amador threw his fastball 75-77, but he also throws a 1/7 shaped slider at 70-72 mph, and he can command three pitches for strikes, including his 73-75 mph changeup.
