CLUTE, TX - George Ranch HS struck first when senior DH Brad Armstrong roped an RBI single in the 1st inning. Unfortunately for the Longhorns that would be their only run. Brazoswood HS senior Pitcher Deryk Serbantez (Wharton College) was dominant Thursday night. Serbantez gave up three hits to the first six batters of the game, but did not allow another hit until the 6th inning. Serbantez was very effective at mixing breaking pitches and keeping the Longhorn bats quiet, proving once again why he is the Ace of a strong Brazoswood squad. Offensively Brazoswood was able to get to starting pitcher (senior) Ryan Harris in the bottom of the second inning. Bucs junior Brett Wagner led off with a single, then two consecutive bunts put runners on 2nd and 3rd. Senior Nate Trevino delivered the big knock for a 2-RBI double. Trevino would eventually score on a successful double steal. Junior infielder Andy Rubacalba drove in the final run of the game in the bottom of the 4th when he delivered an RBI Single. George Ranch the top team in 6A lost their 2nd game of the season. Brazoswood HS 4 George Ranch HS 1.
