Border Olympics Day 2
February 23, 2019
2.22.19
LAREDO – We traveled down to the Border Olympics tournament on Friday and caught three exciting games.
CC Winn 5 – Del Rio 2
After scoring two runs in the first inning, CC Winn never relinquished their lead. Del Rio threatened multiple times, all the way up to the end of the game, but lock-down defense and clutch pitching secured the victory for CC Winn.
Notable Players:
Jorge Robledo, RHP, CC Winn High School, 2021
Uncommitted – Smooth and repeatable, Robledo’s delivery creates limited ball visibility for hitters, and he gets good extension, which aids in his ability to interchange his fastball and breaking ball. The fastball, which showed natural cutting action, was 77-80, T81, and he had command of both sides of the plates to all hitters. Robledo comes across his body with a mid ¾ arm slot, resulting in slurve action to his curveball, an offering that he varied in speed between 67-74 mph. At the plate, Robledo was a big help to his own efforts, raking out three hits and talking a walk to be 3-3 on the day, and crossed the plate three times.
