SAN ANTONIO – The TAPPs playoffs began with a double-header featuring the Apaches of Antonian College Preparatory School and the Friars of Dallas Bishop Lynch. The Apaches got off to a strong start, and rolled through both games by a combined score of 24-0.
Game one was highlighted by a complete-game shutout performance from 2017 LHP Michael McElmeel, an Incarnate Word recruit. McElmeel allowed a lone base runner by way of a single. The Apaches racked up 10 runs off of 13 hits. Senior Mitchell Sexton capped the run-rule victory with a walk-off homerun in sixth inning. Final Score: Antonian 10, Bishop Lynch 0.
Game two featured another stellar pitching performance from ACP, this time it was 2017 RHP Maddux Solomon. The Cisco JC recruit threw 4 2/3 hitless innings. Once again the Antonian offensive was highly productive, scoring 14 runs on 7 hits, 3 of which were 3-run doubles. The Apaches secured a 14-0 victory in five innings.
