All Saints vs. THESA

Toby Bicknell
Texas Scouting Director

FORT WORTH, TX - It was senior night for All Saints Episcopal on Monday night, and a great opportunity for us to see a number of ranked players from both the junior and senior class. 2018 RHP Micah Dallas, a Texas Tech commit, took the mound for THESA. 2018 C/RHP Caleb Silvia got the start for All Saints.

THESA scored a run in the top of the first on an RBI double down the third base line by Micah Dallas.

All Saints answered back in the bottom half of the inning with a 3-spot. After a leadoff error, then a hit-by-pitch, Logan Britt singled in a run on a ground ball through the left side. Caleb Silvia doubled to right field to drive in the second run, and Mendolia laid down a quality push bunt for a base hit RBI to score Britt.

Both starters, Silvia (All Saints) and Dallas (THESA), settled in for the next two innings, neither allowing a run. All Saints went to twin brothers Mason and Jacob Speaker for two innings of relief a piece, neither allowing a hit or a run.

All Saints added an insurance run in the fourth after Hardgrove doubled off the left field wall and two batters later was driven in by Bowman on a sacrifice fly to left field.

Micah Dallas went the distance for THESA, allowing only one more run after the first inning.

Final Score: All Saints 4, THESA 1.

SCOUT NOTES

Micah Dallas, RHP, Home School, 2018
Texas Tech commit. The right-hander works from a ¾ slot with a long, quick arm stroke. On Monday night, Dallas’ fastball was 89-90 early in the game, topping out once at 91 in the first inning. His slider is a true swing and miss pitch with tight rotation and sharp, late break at 80-82. Although he did not walk anyone, his command was scattered early in the contest, giving up 3 runs (2 earned) in the first inning. Settled in from the second inning on, slider command got better and he was able to locate it early and late in counts. The pitch can vary in shape at times between 10/4 lateral, darting break, and more 11/5 downer break. Hitters do not get a good look at the slider. Mixed in the occasional changeup up 83 mph. Went 6 innings, gave up 4 runs, 3 earned, with 5 K, and no walks. For good measure, Dallas also had the lone RBI for THESA in the first inning on an RBI double down the third base line. Dallas is currently ranked No. 17 in Texas, No. 109 Overall.
