2025 Player Rankings Update - Risers
August 31, 2022
TEXAS - Yesterday, we updated the 2025 Player Rankings in Texas. Today, we take a deeper look at the update by focusing on 11 players who made a big move up in the rankings.
+ Cooper Rummel - RHP - Dripping Springs - Texas Commit - #22 to #12
The first thing that stands out when seeing Rummel is the frame. He looks like your prototypical hard throwing righty from Texas. The recent Texas commit throws a fastball that will top out at 92, and sit in the upper 80’s. He does a good job getting out front and getting extension, making the pitch play up. He also shows a CB and SL that have distinct shapes. The SL really came on this summer and looked like a future put away pitch. Rummel has one of the highest ceilings in this class, as the command continues to improve, Rummel will continue to rise up the board.
+ Jack Jorgenson - RHP - Frisco Reedy - #36 to #28
Jorgenson has always been a good arm who fills up the strike zone. He showed up to Future Games and showed everyone that he has taken the next step. He looked more physical and his stuff has ticked up. He took the mound under the weather, but was aggressive, sitting 85-87 with good command and tilt on his fastball. He showed a sharp breaking ball that he threw in the 72-76 range. He manipulated the shape well, dropping it in for a strike early and then throwing a tighter one when he was looking to put the hitter away. He also has an upper 70’s CH with tumbling action, that he does a good job of killing the spin on.
+ J.J. Idrogo - OF - Whitehouse - #43 to #31
Idrogo is one of the better athletes in this class. The East Texas native has run his 60 as low as 6.45, and it shows up on the field during the games. Idrogo continues to refine his swing, and it shows. He is getting into more power, and there is more to come. Idrogo has the athleticism to play CF at the next level, and offer above avg. tools across the board. After a strong Spring/Summer season, the Whitehouse native is on everyone’s radar.
Partida is an intriguing two-way prospect. On the mound, was up to 90 during playoffs. He’s an athletic mover down the mound, gets good extension with clean arm action. BB is his main secondary pitch, with good depth flashing sharp action. The athleticism carries over to the plate and field. Quick hands with the ability to use all fields and clean actions defensively. Will be an exciting player to watch over the next couple years.
