Brandon Gowins
Texas Scouting Director

TEXAS - The 2024 Future Games will feature top uncommitted 2026/2027 players from across the country. The week begins on Wednesday, 7/24 where Team Texas will go through a pro-style workout. Team Texas will play its first game on Thursday 7/25 at 10am est vs. Florida. Game 2 is Friday 7/26 at 6pm est vs. Tennessee and Game 3 is on Saturday 7/27 at 12:30 vs. Georgia. The pitching roations can be found here. Today, we take a close look at the position players on the roster this year.

CATCHERS

Jax Robinson C / 3B / Waxahachie, TX / 2026

Robinson is a LHH catcher from Waxahachie that shows high end ability on both sides of the ball. At the plate, Robinson has shown his power potential throughout the summer by leaving the yard in multiple tournaments. He has good rhythm in the box to go with above avg. bat speed and some current strength.  Defensively, he has a strong arm from behind the plate and has been clocked as low as 1.85 in workouts. The receiving continues to get better as well. Robinson has a chance to stay behind the plate, and really really hit.

Jeffrey Claycomb C / 3B / Rowlett, TX / 2026

The backstop from Rowlett HS has had a great summer and continues to show that he is one of the top defensive catchers in the ‘26 class.  Claycomb may have the quickest transfer in the state, and it helps him get pop times in the 1.8’s during workouts, and sub 2 in game.  He pairs the transfer with a strong arm, making it tough to run on him.  At the plate, Claycomb has big pull side power and has had success against high end pitching. Claycomb profiles as a plus defender behind the plate that offers power potential at the plate.

INFIELDERS

Cole Koeninger SS / RHP / Keller High School, TX / 2026

The two way talent from Keller definitely looks the part, standing 6’3 with bouncy actions. He is a good mover on the dirt, and I see him being able to stick at short. He has the arm talent to make every throw, and has the required athleticism. At the plate, Koeninger has taken major strides the last 3 months and has continued to get better in the box. He has + power potential to go with his athleticism.  Koeninger has made quite the name for himself this summer, and should garner some serious attention at LakePoint.

Lawson Behan SS / RHP / Lamar, TX / 2026

I have been high on Behan for a while, and I am excited to see him up close for a week. There is some physicality to the frame already, and he shows the ability to drive the baseball to all fields. There is some length to the swing, but it has gotten better throughout the summer and has really impacted the baseball down the stretch. He has the arm for the left side of the infield and the actions to go with it. There should be a lot of eyes on Behan next week.

Ashten Ballew SS / RHP / Katy, TX / 2026

Ballew plays the game with bounce, and looks the part of a high end shortstop. He has the required athleticism and arm strength to stay there long term.  He moves effortlessly, and has a frame that should allow him to get stronger but maintain his athleticism. Ballew flashes some pull side power and I saw him drive the ball with authority earlier this summer.  Ballew’s name comes up often when it comes to college coaches and it will be exciting to see him on this stage.

Daylen Foor SS / 3B / TOMPKINS H S, TX / 2026

Foor is the guy that we may look back after Future Games week and say had the best week of anyone from Texas. Foor was a JFG member 2 years ago, and returns this time on the big stage. Foor isn’t quite as physical as the 3 above him mentioned yet, but he seems to always be on the barrel and consistently has good ab’s. He is an avg. athlete with a solid arm who is a solid defender.

Canon Lightfoot SS / 2B / Brock, TX / 2026

Lightfoot really stood out this spring when I would head out to watch Sawyer Strosnider and Brock. He can really pick it at shortstop and seems to always be in the right place. At the plate, the LHH shows the ability to drive the ball to all fields with a line drive oriented swing. He was asked to do a lot of different things offensively in high school, and I think there is another jump he is going to take at the plate when he gets to concentrate on driving the ball. Lightfoot is a coach's son, and it shows with how he plays the game.

Trent Vilade RHP / 1B / PRESTONWOOD CHRISTIAN ACADEMY, TX / 2026

Another coach’s son, Vilade had a monster sophomore season for Prestonwood.  The LHH 1st baseman showed big offensive potential this year. He has extra base hit ability to all fields and is going to be able to leave any part of the ballpark.  There is natural rhythm in his swing, and stays connected well for his size.  Vilade is a high end arm as well that we will talk about in the Pitcher’s preview, but his offensive profile may be his highest ceiling.

OUTFIELDERS

Lash Henderson OF / RHP / PRESTONWOOD CHRISTIAN ACADEMY, TX / 2027

The second member of the Prestonwood squad, Lash is the lone 2027 on our roster this summer.  The #1 player in the country has had a monster summer that has seen him drive the ball with authority consistently. Lash had a really good freshman season for one of the top programs in Texas, and it has really carried over this summer. The potential 5 tool outfielder was a member of JFG’s 2 summers ago, and we are excited to get him back to LakePoint.

Jaylen Walker OF / RHP / LUTHERAN SOUTH ACADEMY, TX / 2026

Another one of the more toolsed up players on Team Texas this year is Walker. The Lutheran South outfielder has the potential to leave the yard at any time when he is at the plate. He has special bat speed and some present strength to go with it, allowing to drive the ball with authority to all fields. Walker also has a plus arm, and I am excited to get some official numbers on him during the workout.  Walker’s name has generated a lot of buzz among college coaches.

Lucas Nawrocki OF / LHP / Aledo High School, TX / 2026

Nawrocki is another outfielder with some serious tools. He isn’t as physically imposing as Lash, but he has some serious twitch. The LHH has big power potential at the plate, including back side, in his 5 '11 frame.  When he stays in the big part of the field, Nawrocki can really do damage in the box. He also has a plus arm in the OF. He can get into the low 90’s on the mound, and it carries over to the OF as well.

Graham Charboneau OF / RHP / Kingwood High School, TX / 2026

Charboneau is one that I think has to make some noise for himself. He profiles as a physical RF, standing at 6 '4. He is a good athlete for his size, and should run in the 6.9’s during the workout.  At the plate, he has plus bat speed and can easily deliver triple digit exit velocities.  His swing is more geared for line drives right now, but as he learns to get the ball in the air more, he has a chance for plus power.

Jake Earnest OF / LHP / Memorial, TX / 2026

Earnest is the first of 3 Houston Memorial teammates on this year’s squad. Earnest had a big spring at Memorial that has carried over to the summer. He has shown the ability to leave the yard from the left side and can also beat you with his legs. Earnest should run in the 6.7’s during the workout.  Earnest may not be as famous as some of the others on the roster, but all he has done is perform this year and I think he has a chance to really open some eyes next week.
