The 2024 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

TEAM OUTLOOK

After winning the TAPPS Division 1 State Championship in 2023, the TCA Addison Trojans look to defend their title in 2024 behind a strong returning roster. Coach Pat Leach will rely on the experience and leadership of his roster to set the tone this spring, while also expecting to roll out a strong defensive group and lineup.

Leading this year’s team and the senior class will be a trio of guys who were All-State and All-District players last season in OF Samuel Jenkins (Baylor - 2nd Team AS, 1st Team AD), MIF Steven Ramos (Navarro College - 2nd Team AS, 1st Team AD), and 1B William Lehman (Hillsdale College - 1st Team AS, 1st Team AD, District Defensive POTY). Jenkins, who will be the team’s opening day centerfielder, signed in November to play his college ball at Baylor and is currently ranked No. 83 in the state. Ramos (Navarro) and Lehman (Hillsdale) will man an infield that will welcome back four guys who saw time in the infield in 2023. Those four returners on the infield are Hillsdale signee C/OF Niko Michaelides (2024), INF/OF Bobby McLaughlin (2024; uncommitted), RHP/INF Harrison Brown (2024; uncommitted), and INF/OF Jack Behrman (2024; uncommitted). Some varsity newcomers to know on the dirt for this season are INF/C Jonathan Cook (2025; uncommitted), CIF Elijah Liu (2025; uncommitted), and CIF Brett Yanof (2025; uncommitted).

Joining the aforementioned Jenkins in the outfield will be a quartet of juniors in Jameson Dunigan (2025; uncommitted), Max McConathy (2025; uncommitted), OF JoVahn Bernard (2025; uncommitted), and RHP/OF Colin Hamilton (2025; uncommitted).

The Trojans’ pitching staff looks to be locked and loaded for 2024 as well. Headlining this group with the previously mentioned Harrison Brown will be returning sophomore LHP Ryan Janacek, who was a standout last season as a freshman. Also contributing on the mound in 2024 will be senior LHP Aidan Mills (uncommitted), junior RHP’s Parker Burch (uncommitted) and Everett May (uncommitted), and sophomore RHP Hunter Flatt.

A pair of freshmen will begin their high school careers for TCA Addison this spring in LHP/1B Caden Jobe and INF/OF Zach Zelesky, and these two look to be building blocks for the freshman class for this year and future years.

With the spring season right around the corner, this TCA Addison Trojans squad looks primed for a strong title defense in 2024. Behind the championship experience they return, and the younger talent they are bringing in, look for the Trojans to make another deep playoff run within the TAPPS Div. 1 class.
