The 2024 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Palmer Bulldogs go into the 2024 season looking to return to the 3A postseason after an early exit in 2023. Led by Coach TJ Barnes, the Bulldogs bring back four key returners looking to lead the squad this spring.

In the senior class, Palmer brings back INF Brandon Martinez (uncommitted), who is projected to be the team’s opening day starter at shortstop. The Bulldogs bring back a pair of versatile junior players in 1B/LHP Will Baxter (uncommitted) and UTL Logan Medina (uncommitted). Sophomore INF/P Eric Cisneros returns in 2024 after playing a bunch as a freshman in 2023. While in the freshman class, the Bulldogs are expected to bring in UTL AJ Cisneros, who could become a building block for Coach Barnes’ program for the next few years.

Despite losing some quality pieces off the 2023 playoff team, the Bulldogs bring back key players in each grad class that should help the team return to the postseason in 2024.
