The 2024 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the State Tournament, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and eventually releasing our preseason Top 30 teams in the state.

Team Outlook:

The Kingwood Mustangs and Coach Michael Oros bring back a very exciting squad for the 2024 season after being 6A Regional Quarterfinalists in 2023. The Mustangs have a ton of returning production on the offensive side of the ball. Most notably, 2024 INF Josh Arquette (Panola JC Signee & Texas State Games Participant) and 2024 INF Braelon Richardson (South Alabama), who will man the left side of the infield for Kingwood this spring and are both ranked inside our top-300 players in the state for the 2024 class. The Mustangs also return 2024 OF/1B Sammy Soto (Uncommitted), 2024 UTIL Caden Wellman (Uncommitted), 2025 OF Brian Schumacher (Uncommitted), 2025 UTIL Caden Callaway (Uncommitted), and 2025 OF/1B Braden Fuentes (Uncommitted) to help round out the steady and veteran Mustang lineup. A Senior duo that will aid in solidifying the infield are 2024 C Cole Brewer (Uncommitted) and 2024 CIF Seth Broussard (Cal State Fullerton). Looking to also make an impact on varsity this spring are a pair of Sophomore outfielders in OF Will Fiedler (Texas State Games Participant) and 3B/OF Graham Charboneau, who are both ranked within the top-50 players in the state for the 2026 class. On the bump, the Mustangs will be led by recent McLennan CC signee, RHP Logan Harris, who will serve as a stabilizer atop the rotation throughout the spring as the rest of the rotation develops. A couple Freshman to keep an eye on as the season progresses are INF/RHP Cody Sawyer and C/OF Jacob Curtis, who hope to make an impact immediately for Kingwood. The Mustangs should have an exciting offense to watch all spring that could help the pitching staff progress over the course of the season, potentially leading to another deep postseason run in 2024.
