The 2024 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

TEAM OUTLOOK

After a solid season in 2023, the Edgewood Bulldogs bring back a talented and more experienced roster for 2024. Coach Jason Seale’s squad will return an outstanding eight All-District players from last season, with five of the eight earning First Team designations.

In the senior class, the Bulldogs bring back four players who were First Team All-District last spring in UTL Brady Bannister (uncommitted), INF Gabriel Stoltzfus (uncommitted), RHP/C Carter Seay (uncommitted), and RHP/INF Cade Matthews (uncommitted). Senior UTL Jimmy Grant (uncommitted) is also back in 2024 after earning Second Team All-District in 2023, and senior OF/RHP Grayson Hunter (uncommitted) is back after earning Honorable Mention All-District. The reigning District Newcomer of the Year also returns for the Bulldogs in 2024 in senior RHP/INF Lucas Lasater (uncommitted). Junior INF/RHP Alex Martinez (uncommitted) is back this spring for the Bulldogs after earning First Team All-District in 2023 as a sophomore.

Projected to join the varsity squad this season is UTL Jacob Treadway (2024; uncommitted), Lee Pierce, and RHP/INF Jaxon Intlehouse (2025; uncommitted).

After finishing as 3A Area Finalists in 2023 and with the amount of talent they return from that squad for 2024, the Edgewood Bulldogs look primed for an even deeper postseason run in 2024.
