TEAM OUTLOOK

The Clear Springs Chargers and its head coach Chris Floyd bring back another talented roster in 2024 after finishing as 6A Regional Semifinalists in season ago. The Chargers look to be led by a deep pitching staff and strong defense to help prevent runs throughout the year. Most notable, on the pitching side, is Sam Houston State signee RHP Connor Mondey, who is ranked at No. 266 in the 2024 state rankings, and he was Honorable Mention, All-Galveston County in 2023. Recent Alvin CC commit, RHP Tyler Ryden, will also sit atop the rotation with Mondey after earning First Team All-District and First Team All-Galveston County honors in 2023.

The rest of the returning pitching staff will include senior RHPs Mason Garza (uncommitted) and Caden Wells (uncommitted; Second Team All-District; Honorable Mention, All-Galveston County), as well as junior RHPs Hunter Heath (uncommitted), Corbin Walter (uncommitted), and Zach Breish (uncommitted). The Chargers will additionally feature a pair of southpaws to watch on the bump in uncommitted seniors Mason Creel and Peyton Miller. A new face to the program, hopeful to make an impact early on the mound for the Chargers is freshman RHP/INF Karson Schulz. The Chargers are not without returners in other spots either. They return a talented catching duo in senior C/UTL Andrew Fonte (San Jacinto JC; Honorable Mention, All-District, and Team All-Galveston County) and senior C/UTL Braxton Chehresa (uncommitted). While also returning another San Jacinto JC signee in 2024 in OF Ryan Hernandez, who is currently the No. 174-ranked player in the state. Clear Springs also brings back SS Drew Floyd (uncommitted), who earned First Team All-District and First Team All-Galveston County honors last season as a just a sophomore.

Overall, the Chargers look to be a strong team to watch throughout the 2024 campaign, thanks to their plentiful pitching staff and experienced roster.
