The 2024 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Coach Daryl Reaves and his Cedar Ridge Raiders look to rebound in 2024 behind their veteran defense and team athleticism. The Raiders will be led by a pair of uncommitted Seniors who earned All-District honors in 2023 in OF/RHP Nick Bonacci (.261, 15 Runs/2nd Team All-District Reliever in 2023) and OF Omari Johnson (.269, 24 Runs, 10 SB/2nd Team All-District in 2023). Another Senior duo returning in 2024 are UTIL/RHP Carson Reeves (Uncommitted - .297, 19 Runs, 7 SB; 1.13 ERA in 2023) and C Peyton Dulin (Uncommitted - 8 2B, 12 RBI in 2023). Cedar Ridge also returns an exciting trio of Juniors who had very good seasons in 2023 in INF Hudson Hartgrove (Louisiana Tech Commit - .337, 6 2B, 23 Runs/1st Team All-District in 2023), UTIL/LHP Matthew Fletcher (Uncommitted - 25-6A Newcomer OTY in 2023), and UTIL Blake Milberger (Uncommitted - .296; 3.76 ERA/3rd Team All-District in 2023). Hartgrove, who is currently ranked No. 69 in the 2025 state rankings and fresh off a commitment to LA Tech, showed some pop at the plate (92.2 mph max exit velocity) and a strong arm in the infield (91 mph) at a recent event this fall. A rising Junior for Cedar Ridge to keep an eye on in 2024 is RHP/INF Kianu Santos (Uncommitted). The Raiders will look to Freshman C Riggs Gordon as a potential impact bat right away to begin his high school career in 2024. After last season looked to be a rebuilding year for the Raiders, look for Cedar Ridge to rebound and continue building toward the future with their veteran defense and athleticism in 2024.
