February 2, 2024
The 2024 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 30 rankings.
Our 2024 preseason coverage continues today.

TEAM OUTLOOK
The Cedar Park Timberwolves and Coach Tyler Farst look to make another deep postseason run in 2024 behind a stout defense and some intriguing arms on the mound. The Timberwolves bring back a strong nucleus of seniors heading into 2024, with six of them earning All-District honors last season.
On the mound, the Timberwolves will be led by Temple JC signee LHP/UTL Kade Davis (2024). The reigning District Co-Pitcher of the Year from 2023 is a guy our staff is familiar with after his showing at our State Games last fall. At 6-foot-1, 175-pounds, Davis has a calm, controlled, and repeatable delivery downhill. At the State Games, he was working his fastball primarily in the mid-80’s, while topping out at 87 mph with average spin rates of 2200+ rpm. The southpaw also throws two high-spin breaking balls with his curveball averaging 2500+ rpm, and his slider averaging 2300+ rpm. Davis is currently ranked No. 128 in the state and is primed for a big senior season entering 2024. Joining Davis on the mound will be a pair of senior two-ways who each earned First Team All-District in 2023 in RHP/UTL Brady Richardson (uncommitted) and LHP/UTL Drew Robertson (uncommitted). Another senior arm to keep an eye on this spring will be RHP/INF Parker Greene (uncommitted).
On defense, the Timberwolves bring back OF Jake Cowlishaw (2024; uncommitted), INF Logan Hedges (2024; uncommitted), INF/RHP Luke O'Malley (2024; uncommitted), and C Carter Woehl (2024; uncommitted). Cowlishaw was Honorable Mention All-District last season, with both Woehl and Hedges earning Second Team. Projected to join the Timberwolves defense and lineup this season is newcomer OF/RHP Bryce Schneider (2025; uncommitted). We saw Schneider this past June at the Central Texas Summer Open, where he ran a 6.84 60 and threw an 88 mph bullet from the outfield, showing the traits to be a solid defender for the Timberwolves starting in 2024.
A pair of freshmen beginning their high school careers this spring will be INF/RHP Hudson Cuevas and INF/RHP Dominic Naylor. Both were standouts for Team Texas at this past summer’s Junior Future Games, and are both ranked inside our 2027 state rankings, with Cuevas checking in at No. 16, and Naylor at No. 11. Naylor is also ranked among the nation’s top players for the 2027 class at No. 76. Both players swing strong bats for their age and could continue to do so as they mature with Cuevas posting a max EV of 92 mph, and Naylor posting a max EV of 96.9 mph at the Junior Future Games. Look for these two to be building blocks for Coach Farst’s program for years to come.
Cedar Park has a ton to be excited about entering 2024, with the arms they will roll out on the mound, as well as the lineup they should be able to put together. Look for the Timberwolves to make another deep 5A playoff run this spring with the help from a strong senior class.
