The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Austin at the State Tournament, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and eventually releasing our preseason Top 30 teams in the state.

Team Outlook:

 The Prosper Rock Hill Baseball team comes into the 2023 Season taking the jump from 5A to 6A and entering one of the toughest districts in the state.  Last year, Rock Hill lost in the 1st round of the playoffs in a 3 game series against Frisco Lone Star. Gone from that team is also OF Brenner Cox who was drafted and signed in the 4th Round by the Washington Nationals. But Coach Stanton and his staff have a talented roster with veteran leadership and some young talent coming through. 

Leading the way this year is DBU signee Uriah Walters.  Walters is a freaky athlete who put on  a show during the PBR Texas State games. He is a 6.6 runner who puts up triple digit exit velocities.  He figures to lockdown one of the infield spots on the left side and be in the top of their order.  Their top returning pitcher is Aidan Lamar.  The LHP, who is signed to TAMU-CC, has an upper 80's fastball that can reach 90. Shows good pitch ability and generates a lot of weak contact.  He has the ability to beat anyone he toes the rubber against.  Another arm Coach Stanton is excited about is Arkansas Tech Signee Ben Ellison.  He is another upper 80's arm.  Rock Hill also brings back veteran bats OF Ty Townsend, C Zach Fike and INF Chase Irby.

Rock Hill also has some young talent looking to make an impact this year.  Joshua Viars is a physical freshman who can play at a high level all over the field.  He flashes the potential for some serious power from the right side.  They also have Sophomore Kael Cole, a LHP with a lot of promise and 2025 UTL Daniel Vazquez.  He has a projectable frame and can play all over the field.  

Rock Hill has a big test with the jump to the biggest classification in Texas. But the Blue Hawks have a good core of veterans and some high end talent, District 5-6A will be a fun one this year.
