Team Summary
Coach Eric Matthews and his Atascocita Eagles look to return to the playoffs and make a deep run like they did in 2019 and were on pace for in 2020. The Eagles return five arms and three bats from their 2020 team. Returning on the mound will be 2021 LHP Joel Burgess (Texas State commit), Spence Mats (Northeast Texas CC commit), and 2021 RHP/UTL Cristian Garcia. Keep an eye on newcomer 2022 RHP/UTL Parker Matthews to get some innings this spring for the Eagles as well. In the lineup, Coach Matthews returns Garcia along with 2021 C/UTL Nicholas Anderson (Tyler JC commit) and 2021 UTL Brandon Johnson (Northeast Texas CC commit). Joining those guys this year will also be three newcomers who add plenty of athleticism and lots of speed in 2022 UTL Bennie Qualls, 2022 UTL Chase Sowell, and 2023 OF Kendall George (Arkansas commit), who ran a 6.38-laser timed 60 yard dash at the North Texas Underclass Games this past summer. The balance of returners and newcomers should help Atascocita set themselves up for the chance for another deep run in the playoffs.
