2019 UIL Team Preview - Corpus Christi Ray
February 12, 2019
The Texas high school season kicks off on February 21, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on January 25, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.
Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.
We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. If you don’t see your team’s season preview make sure your head coach fills out his Preseason Questionnaire.

SEASON PREVIEW
CORPUS CHRISTI – Improving upon a .500 season in 2018 is Coach Ruiz’s goal for his 2019 squad, and with confidence in their team’s defense and pitching, that goal should be attainable.
Four seniors will carry the team forward this spring: 3B David Garcia, 2B Jayden Benavides, SS Brandon Rodriguez, and OF/RHP Ronald Vasquez. Juniors Isaac Flores (OF/RHP), Sam Canales (RHP/Catcher ranked No. 93 PBR TX), and sophomore Troy Johnson (UTL) will be continuing to develop and make big contributions for the lineup.
