Today, we spent some time looking over some of the 2025 Draft Prospects talent headed our way who are currently on rosters ahead of the tournament. Below we're evaluating the top 2025 players headed to Milwaukee this weekend; listed in order of their overall state ranking.

State (IN) Rank: No. 3

+ Alex Barr, LHP/1B (Kankakee Valley HS, IN, 2025):

Travel Team: Chicago Cubs Scout Team

3/02/24: "I love the growth that Alex Barr showed at the Preseason All-State. Now standing at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds with a leaner, more athletic look - Barr peppered the zone with a heavy, 92-93, touching 93.7 mph fastball. Coming from a an over-the-top slot that allows the fastball to work downhill, Barr complimented the heater with two distinct breaking balls that showed differing properties. The curveball, his traditonal out-pitch, showed two-plane shape at 72-74 mph. The Indiana recruit has added a firm slider to his arsenal, as well, spinning it at 78-82 with up to 15" of horizontal and minimal depth, showing true sweeper properties. The added velocity + slider adds excitement to his arsenal, and Barr moves exceptionally well within the delivery with mobile hips that suggest even more growth can be had.”

State (IN) Rank: No. 4

+ Joshua Flores, RHP/ (Lake Central HS, IN, 2025):

Travel Team: Chicago Cubs Scout Team

3/02/24: "Flores provided a loud look in his bullpen after coming off a breakout sophomore season. Athletic at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds with standout body control - the Cincinnati recruit showed an electric, four-pitch arsenal. The arm action is longer and he uses his front arm as a lever to create arm speed. A dynamic mover, the delivery works in-line with a controlled violence down the slope. Flores worked his fastball at 91-93 mph, complimented by a tightly-spun, bullet slider at 82-83 mph (2778 avg spin). Flores showed a 77-81 mph curveball with downer break and 11/5 shape, while also showcasing an 82-85 mph changeup with 16.6" of horizontal break.”

State (WI) Rank: No. 1

+ Ryan Brennecke, LHP/1B (Oconomowoc HS, WI, 2025):

Travel Team: GRB STiKS Black

4/12/24: "Brennecke was the first of a few impressive arms the Racoons rolled out there on Friday. Out of simple and repeatable delivery, the southpaw sat 87-91 mph in his start, running it up to 93 mph on one pitch in the third inning. Off of his lively fastball, Brennecke spun in a sharp 1/7 breaking ball in the mid-70s for called strikes and also whiffs outside of the zone. Rounding out his productive three-pitch mix was a fading changeup in the low-80s that featured some late depth and proved to be an out-pitch he used to righties. Brennecke finished his illustrious outing with five strikeouts over 3.1 innings and failed to allow a hit, too. A high-level arm in the state’s junior class.”

State (IL) Rank: No. 6

+ Aidan Flinn, LHP/1B (Marist HS, IL, 2025):

Travel Team: Chicago Cubs Scout Team

5/10/24: "Illinois commit. Currently ranked No. 140 in the state, Flinn got the start for the RedHawks and showed high upside throughout his start. He is every bit of 6-foot-6, 200-pounds with room to still grow into the frame. He is a loose and athletic mover down the mound, working in-sync with his long levers. His fastball plays with late, hard life through the zone at 88-90 mph, seemingly getting quality extension on the pitch. His go-to off-speed offering was a sweeping-type breaking ball that he was confident throwing to both sides of the plate; back-dooring right-handed hitters or throwing it at their back foot. To complement his repertoire, he pounded the zone with both pitches to make for a 77% strike clip in the outing. The southpaw is a tough matchup for any lineup he opposes, and he more than held his own against the No. 1 team in the state; finishing with six strikeouts over his five innings of two-run ball.”

State (IL) Rank: No. 7

+ Trey Meyers, OF/1B (New Trier HS, IL, 2025):

Travel Team: Chicago Cubs Scout Team

2/24/24: "...stands out physically with his 6-foot-5, 214-pound frame, and he has some eye-opening upside still left in the tank. He uses his levers to create easy power and bat-speed (70.6 mph avg), and his power projects as he continues to fill out. In this look, he had a clear intent to keep the ball on a line, working up to 93.9 mph for his max EV. He moves extremely well for his size, cruising to a 6.58 in the 60 with a max run speed of 21.1 mph, also recording a 29.8” vertical. Fluid footwork in the outfield with steady hands, plays through the ball with intent. Moves well into a crow hop, topping out at 89 mph with life out of the hand. High-upside name to know.”

State (IL) Rank: No. 9

+ Ethan Moore, SS/2B (Oak Park-River Forest HS, IL, 2025):

Travel Team: Hitters 2025

3/03/24: "Moore is a dynamic switch-hitter with feel to hit and power from both sides of the plate. From the left side, Moore has high hands with a wide base, using a lengthy stride straight toward the pitcher. It’s a very direct path with notable bat speed that enabled him to hit the ball hard, reaching 96.7 mph off the bat. In the right-handed box it’s more controlled movement, working into a strong loaded position with quality timing. Moore showcased his speed, as the Illinois native was one of just four players to run a sub-7.00 60-yard dash (6.92). Defensively, Moore showed quality actions with the feet, soft hands and quick lateral movement. His arm worked from multiple angles with accuracy, reaching 89 mph across the infielder.”

State (WI) Rank: No. 3

+ Ethan Bauerschmidt, SS/RHP (Tremper HS, WI, 2025):

Travel Team: Hitters 2025

3/03/24: "Built at a lean 6-foot-2, 161-pounds, Bauerschmidt is a simple and athletic mover on the bump, pairing it with a quick arm that produced the day’s highest velocities. He sat in the 89-91 mph range and he reared back for a 91.7 mph max on a hard running fastball that averaged 15.5” of horizontal movement. His slider, which averaged 2,451 RPM, played with tight 10/4 break and was thrown with fastball intent. Rounding out his three-pitch mix was a changeup that was thrown with intent, featuring tilt/fade and he was able to consistently throw in the lower part of the zone. While his ‘pen was impressive in its own right, there is still a considerable amount of upside there, and it is safe to say that he is just scratching the surface of what his ceiling on the bump could ultimately be.”

State (WI) Rank: No. 4

+ Peter Kussow, RHP/3B (Arrowhead HS, WI, 2025):

Travel Team: GRB STiKS Black

6/25/24: "Louisville commit. Kussow came in clutch to add to the depth of a stellar Arrowhead pitching staff—showcasing his best stuff on the mound toward the end of the season. Kussow tallied a complete game win against their rivals in Muskego, in addition to keeping his program in the Division 1 Quarterfinal against Westosha Central in the next week of action. The right-hander has an electric arsenal that led him to a 5-1 record in 46 innings pitched, accumulating one save in the process. His slider has emerged as one of the top individual pitches in Wisconsin’s 2025 class, in addition to an upper-80s-to-low-90s fastball. Kussow competed against some of the best competition in the state this season and succeeded, setting him up well for the summer and beyond as he enters his senior year.”

State (WI) Rank: No. 6

+ Preston Yaucher, SS/2B (Edgewood HS, WI, 2025):

Travel Team: GRB Rays 2025 Green

6/25/24: "Penn State commit. Yaucher enjoyed a strong regular season—emerging as a staple in the Edgewood program as a junior. The Penn State recruit led the Crusaders to a Division 2 State Championship, much of which having to do with his production at the plate. Before Sectionals, Yaucher tallied 37 RBIs and 32 runs scored, establishing himself as an all-important bat at the top of the order. He was one of the main reasons the Edgewood offense continued to stay hot down the stretch, putting together quality at bats in numerous appearances. Defensively, Yaucher showed off his advanced actions at Fox Cities Stadium—making multiple difficult plays en route to holding up gold in Appleton.”

State (IN) Rank: No. 17

+ Noah Drake, OF/OF (Castle HS, IN, 2025):

Travel Team: Chicago Cubs Scout Team

3/02/24: "Drake had some of my favorite swings of the day, turning an electric barrel through the hitting zone that produced the furthest batted ball of the day (400'). An Indiana recruit - Drake has real, next-level bat speed with immense twitch in the left-handed stroke. Reaching a peak exit velocity of 101.9 mph, Drake appears to be a run-producer at the next-level, and his foot speed has improved (6.79). Drake is one of the top position player prospects in the class, making huge strides in his development over the past twelve months, and his arm from the outfield (89 mph) has a chance to be an impact tool, as well.”

State (MI) Rank: No. 8

+ Case Bosch, LHP/1B (Jenison HS, MI, 2025):

Travel Team: Chicago Cubs Scout Team

6/20/23: "6-foot-4, 200-pound. Athletic projectable on the mound, had a quick consistent arm action and a ¾ arm angle with quick arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and shows easy effort. Has an athletic balance point and even shoulders. Lands square with an athletic finish. (Max spin 2148; Avg 2034). ”

State (WI) Rank: No. 9

+ Jack Lutz, SS/2B (Whitnall HS, WI, 2025):

Travel Team: Midwest Halos Scout 2025

3/16/24: "...is a top-10 ranked player in the state, and after Saturday’s event he reminded us exactly why he should be near the top of that list. The left-handed hitter has a smooth and repeatable swing that produced notable exit velocities and reached a max exit velocity of 92.3 mph and an average exit velocity of 87.0 mph which was amongst the day's. In the infield, Lutz ranges to the ball with ease and makes the routine play look easy. His arm was up to 87 mph across the infield and should easily stick at short at the next-level. Lutz will likely fill out and tap into even more raw power, arm strength and foot speed with more lower half strength and power. The future is bright for the Indiana State commit and our staff is looking forward to watching him perform this spring and summer.”

State (MI) Rank: No. 10

+ Wyatt Mosley, LHP/1B (Dansville HS, MI, 2025):

Travel Team: Chicago Cubs Scout Team

3/04/23: "5-foot-11, 182-pound. (62.0 mph bat speed average). (18.8 mph hand speed average). Starts in a tall active stance with a tight small load, then uses a short stride. He created some loud contact and found some barrels. Capable projectable in the infield, had a live arm with throws that topped out at 85 mph; shows athletic fluid feet, a clean exchange, and developing consistent hands. Fielded the ball out front with developing average movement laterally. Clocked a time of 7.34 in the 60-yard dash. Above average solid on the mound, showed good developing arm speed, also used a high ¾ arm angle and a loose short arm action. Tall-and-fall tilt-and-topple type pitcher who shows some effort. Balance point is tall with in line shoulders during delivery. Lands square. (Max spin 2057; Avg 1962). ”

State (WI) Rank: No. 10

+ Marek Bolson, C/2B (Oconomowoc HS, WI, 2025):

Travel Team: GRB STiKS Black

2/17/24: "...is one of the handful of recent Prep Baseball Future Games standouts that put together strong showings on Saturday. Bolson has that loose, easy, rhythmic swing through the baseball that allows him to consistently barrel balls all over the field from the left side of the plate. One of the biggest takeaways from his performance was the pop he has added to his left-handed bat, as his hardest hit ball came off at 95.5 mph and he averaged 90.9 mph, both of which were vast improvements since our previous looks. On defense, Bolson is a smooth receiver and has a quick transfer on throws to second base. The 2.00 pop time is quick and accurate to second base. The Kent State commit has a projectable frame and we can see more ceiling in the future as he continues to develop.”

State (WI) Rank: No. 15

+ Terek Verhage, C/OF (Monona Grove HS, WI, 2025):

Travel Team: GRB Rays 2025 Green

3/10/24: "This past summer’s Future Games participant C/OF Terek Verhage (Monona Grove, 2025; University of St. Thomas Commit) had a notable workout on Sunday in front of our staff. The 5-foot-10, 178 pound left handed hitter was all over the barrel spraying line drives to all fields with a simple swing. Defensively, Verhage was tied for the best velocity from the outfield at 92 mph and had the best pop time of 1.97 seconds with the best velocity of 83 mph behind the plate. Verhage has the skills and tools that make him a top ranked 2025 in the state of Wisconsin, and those skills and tools were fully on display on Sunday.”

State (IL) Rank: No. 21

+ Lucas Grant, LHP/1B (Joliet Catholic HS, IL, 2025):

Travel Team: Chicago Cubs Scout Team

3/15/24: "Uncommitted. 6-foot, 185-pound, left-handed pitcher, currently on the rise in the Illinois’ 2025 class. Showed well this winter at the Preseason All-State and has now backed it up with two quality performances this spring. Came out of the bullpen in this game and was almost perfect in his three innings of work, allowing one hit, no walks and struck out six. 29 of his 42 pitches were strikes, working primarily behind a lively fastball that gets all over hitters at 87-89, T90 mph early on, settling at 86-88. Worked almost exclusively with his late running fastball that he works at the bottom of the zone. Rarely went to his slider which played at 77 mph with a short, late horizontal wrinkle. Overall, easy operation with feel and presence on the mound. Should be a highly-sought after left-handed arm in the Illinois’ 2025 class.”
