Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Thanks to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season.

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 2 (March 18-24).

 

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Briley LaRue C / RHP / Jefferson County , TN / 2024 Had a really strong week for Jefferson County at the plate as the senior was 11-16 (.687 average), with three doubles, launching four home runs, and collecting 15 total RBI's. He also contributed on the mound as well, the right hander logged 5.1 innings of work, allowing four hits and recording 9 strikeouts.

 

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Joseph Summers RHP / SS / Oakdale School, TN / 2024 Was dominate on the mound for Oakdale this past week, in his seven complete innings, over a pair of outings. Summers would allow just one hit and recorded 20 total strikeouts. In his two outings, he tossed two complete game shutouts and one of those would be a perfect game performance.
