The 2024 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Greenback Cherokees are looking upon a great 2023 season in which they went 21-13 within 4A play. Greenback is headed by head coach Billy Holt. The Cherokees are returning 8 starters with 4 returning arms on the mound. Greenback will be led on the mound by Uncommitted ‘24 RHP/UTIL Caden Lawson who was All-Daily times Pitcher of the Year in 2023. Uncommitted ‘24 Brady Allison will also get quality innings and man shortstop when he's not on the bump. ‘24 OF/P Kooper Williams will also add good innings for the Cherokees, while manning a corner outfield position. Greenback will also have ‘24 Uncommitted OF Cason Workman who has already provided solid power this season for the Cherokees in the top of the lineup. ‘25 C Noah Graves will be handling the pitching staff as the club’s primary catcher, while sophomore JJ Caudill will look to establish himself on varsity at 1st base and a go-to reliever.  Coach Holt will look to build upon the club’s previous sub-state finish in the 2023 as he goes into his first season as the Greenback Cherokees head coach.
