TN HS Team Preview: Bartlett Panthers
January 9, 2024
The 2024 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Power 25 and much more.
*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK
Bartlett started the season off hot a year ago going 6-4 in their first 10 games with close loses to eventual state tournament participants Brighton and Independence. However, April was not kind to the Panthers club as they would go on a 10 game losing streak and only win 4 out of 18 games for the entire month. Playing in the most competitive district in all of Tennessee, Bartlett will again have their hands full with Arlington returning key pieces, as well as Houston returning basically their entire starting lineup, while Collierville looks to get back to the state tournament yet again. This does on paper give the impressions of a different team than a season ago where they return 6 starting position players with a large number of 7 arms returning. Runs were at a premium last year, scoring over 10+ runs only 6 times and losing a lot of games scoring 1 or 0 runs total. Look for that to be a different story this season with Jason Dunn going into his senior season and once again poised to lead the team in hitting, while 4 year starter Tylan Graves and 3 year starter Wyatt Parish will be playing with a lot of experience behind them. The team is loaded with ‘25 class prospects with names such as Luke Loyd, Hayden Moody, Sam Barnes, Brody Woodall and Alex McAlpin who should all step up and provide meaningful at-bats and consistency in the heart of the order. Robert Armes is a talented freshman that should get immediate playing time on varsity this spring with a physical frame with an advanced mentality that wouldn’t be surprising to be batting somewhere in the heart of the lineup come district play. On the hill, the Panthers return 3 year starter LHP Reese Ellison who looks primed to be the team’s ace. Coach Stewart will have plenty of options to round out his 3 man rotation and don't expect that to be finalized until April comes around. This team looks rebuilt in a lot of ways from this time last year and will rely on great defense and quality pitching to swing games their way, but don’t be surprised to see a different hitting unit this year that could actually be a position of strength for the club.
P/1B Reese Ellison
3 year starter from a tall 6 foot 3 frame that pounds the zone.
SS/RHP Tylan Graves
Low 7.1 runner with good feet and actions. Low-mid 80’s from a short arm action that will eat up innings
OF/C/RHP Luke Lloyd
100 mph exit velo max with 88 mph average at our PBR Scout Day with the Memphis Tigers. Strong frame with lag through the zone with the barrel. Will be a utility type playing all over the field.
P Paul Brignole
Low 80’s mph arm that should be in line for the 3 man rotation.
