Hunter Martin
TN Scouting Director

NASHVILLE, TN - The Prep Baseball Tennessee Senior Games was held on Sunday, October 27th at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, TN. Players went through an extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to get numbers and metrics on TrackMan during simulated innings. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing at the event.

Continuing our post-event coverage for the event, we take a look at some of the top performers from the Tennessee Senior Games.

QUICK HITS

Connell Driver (Farragut)

Our staff got a great look at the 2024 state champion out of Farragut last Sunday at Lipscomb Academy, He worked with an electric fastball from 87-89 with great control with a sharp slider in the 2600 rpm range. Driver was in the driver's seat for his outing at the senior games showing the ability to land all 3 pitches in the zone for strikes. Great frame and an easy athletic mover on the mound, Driver should be a big part of Farragut's efforts as they look to make another deep run in the state tournament next year.

Jack Todd (Henry County)

Todd brings an intimidating presence on the mound and had the stuff to match as he looks to find himself a home for next fall. He showed the ability to throw a strike whenever he wants with multiple pitches, getting up to 87 at times but cruising in the 84-86 range.  An intimidating frame at 6’3 he gains great momentum getting down the mound, and his FB gets on you quickly. There is room to improve his athleticism, which would only cause his ability on the mound to improve.

Evan Kirby (The Webb School)

The big right handed arm was impressive in a short and extremely effective outing during the Tennessee senior games. Kirby showed an improved physicality as he got down the mound, he cruised at 85 with heavy asr at times able to flip a  sharp breaking ball into the zone whenever he wanted.  He has become more controlled and methodical with his windup since the spring, showing better control in the zone. He was a large part of the Feet’s campaign and looks to take on a massive part this spring, and will surely be a great addition to any college roster.

 Blake Herrell (Roane County)

The Corner infielder was electric on a sunny fall Sunday during the Tennessee Senior games, The right handed bat has impressed in multiple appearances this summer that started at the TN State games. Herrel started off the afternoon showing off a plus arm across the diamond with great mobility at first base. He has a simple and compact swing from the right side, with high average exit velo and a max of 98. Herrell had multiple barrels during gameplay against quality arms. A strong athletic frame, the East TN product will be a welcome addition to a program in the near future.

Tucker Glendenning (Independence)

We got an exciting look at the tall right handed arm this past Sunday during the 2024 Senior games. Listed at 6’6 and 200 pounds, Glendenning is long and has decent size at present with a very high physical ceiling. He filled up the zone during his outing in gameplay, working in the low 80s, generating an average of 18 inches of induced vertical break with a max of a ridiculous 25 inches IVB. He also showed the ability to locate a breaking ball in the zone, which at present is more of a rifle spin straight down. The righty is definitely one to keep an eye on as we head into the winter break.

Aidan NIggl (Mt. Juliet)

A member of the 2023 Team Tennessee at the Futures Games, our staff got a great look at the still uncommitted righty this past sunday. Niggl worked in the high 80s (88-89) and topped just over 90 at the event. A Mt. Juliet product, he showed off an improved breaking ball in the low 80s range. A high quality arm that could improve on some athleticism at present, the former future gamer will be a welcome addition to any college roster, as he looks to close out his high school career with a big spring season after missing much of the previous season with injury.

Benjamin Stevens (Daniel Boone)

The East Tennessee product had a big day at LIpscomb Academy as he showed a great effort at the Senior games. A very physical frame at 6’ and 220 pounds, Stevens had a LOUD round of BP, showing off mid 70s batspeed according to blast, with an average exit velo above 90 (93) with a max of 98. He made the field look small at multiple occasions during his BP round. He showed great at bats during gameplay as a part of a great all around day. A pure hitter, Stevens is in great shape to find a home for next fall.

Ty Newton (Rockvale)

Newton showed off some high octane tools on a beautiful fall day, making noise all day during this past weekend's Senior Games. He shows a very athletic with developed strength in his frame, allowing him to show off 7 flat speed in the 60. Before lighting up the radar gun from both the infield and the outfield at 88 and 90 respectively. He does it with the bat as well, posting a max exit velo of 97, with multiple loud barrels during gameplay. Newton did it on the mound as well, filling up the strike zone while cruising in the mid 80's. A toolsy athlete, Newton will be a hot commodity for any college roster. ‘

Carson Pack (Oakland)

Pack was impressive once again in his outing on Sunday the 27th. Long limbed and lean, Pack brough electric stuff that was overpowering at times in his inning, He cruised in the high 80s getting up to 91 with a swing and miss inducing curveball that he spun at 2400 RPMs, also showing a low 80s changeup.  Pack looks the part at 6’ and 160 pounds, while still offering lots of potential for development on the horizon. Pack will look to be a mainstay for Oakland while making potential suitors very happy.

Bryson Shepard (Morristown West)

Shepard showed off a smooth and explosive lefty swing all day during the TN Senior games, showing why he should not be uncommitted for long. He works with a small leg kick and toe tap, before leading into a quick and powerful swing. He showed off a very solid arm from the outfield with an 84 mph velo. A very solid frame with good quick twitch actions, he looks to be a welcome addition for a team in the coming months.
