Recently, the Prep Baseball Tennessee Staff has released their most updated Player Rankings from the 2025, 2026 and 2027 classes. Our lists were updated after a busy summer circuit where we were able to get our eyes on tons of talent that the Volunteer State has to offer.
For the 2027 class specifically, there were some new faces that made their way onto the scene this past summer and found themselves within the latest 2027 Player Rankings as we have expanded our list to 50 prospects.
Today, we are going to highlight 9 newcomers who were recently added to the 2027 Player Rankings in Tennessee.

Max Long RHP / RHP / Smith County High School, TN / 2027
Positional Profile: OF/RHP Body: 5-11, 170-pounds. Athletic frame with strong levers that will continue to add strength and explosiveness Delivery: Simple controlled movements into a smooth leg lift. Collapses off back leg into a bent front leg. Arm Action: RH. Stiff and at times jerky arm action into a compact 3/4 arm slot. Still developing arm pattern should smoothen out. FB: T76, 75-76 mph. Shows good command to both sides of the plate. Devloping arm should smoothen out and strengthen. T1938, 1839 average rpm. CB: 59-59 mph. Loose spin with good horizontal movement. Will benefit from better release point and increased armspeed. T1704, 1704 average rpm. CH: 64-68 mph. Still developing pitch at present comes off as a slower fastball with little depth . T1825, 1395 average rpm. ATH: 7.74 runner in the 60. 1.78 in the 10 yard split. 27.10 max vertical.

Ty Holman RHP / SS / Christian Brothers, TN / 2027
Positional Profile: RHP/SS Body: 6-0, 175-pounds. Lean and long frame, more room for added size. Athletic. Delivery: Starts on left side of the rubber, hands start at the letters and move slightly throughout delivery, gets into back hip well Arm Action: RH. Arm stays hidden well, whippy action that finishes with 3/4 high arm slot, fastball. and changeup velocity differences can cause problems FB: T83, 81-83 mph. Can get swing and misses spotting up beacuse of the arm staying hidden for most of the delivery T2094, 1986 average rpm. CH: 73-75 mph. Late fading action with real pitchability. Missed low and away generating swing and miss and heavy drop with ASR. Potential plus offering. T2013, 1911 average rpm. ATH: 7.46 runner in the 60. 2.99 and 5.25 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Jay Insani C / RHP / Riverdale, TN / 2027
Positional Profile: C/RHP Body: 5-11, 180-pounds. Well built frame with present foundation in lower half. Has ability to grow into his frame as he holds plenty of room to fill out. Hit: RHH. Tall narrow setup that is slightly open. He loads his back hip and rides in until footplant. Swings off one one leg, sinking into rear leg as he swings. Still devloping batspeed and strength shows good coverage of the plate, stays inside ball well up the middle and the other way. With the ability to turn on balls. 66.1 mph bat speed with 6 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 80.3 mph. 291' max distance. Arm: RH. C-82 mph. Fires the ball down to second from a very quick arm action, ball has some carry to it. Defense: 1.90-2.07 pop times. Begins with 1 knee down when recieving, gets off knee very well with forward ground gain. ATH: 7.90 runner in the 60. 1.79 in the 10 yard split. 24.60 max vertical.

Treyson Derry 1B / LHP / Grace Christian Academy of Knoxville, TN / 2027
Positional Profile: 1B/LHP Body: 5-10, 175-pounds. Proportional body, more room for added size. Athletic. Hit: LHH. Even stance, rhythm with the hands. Small leg lift into the swing, power to the pull side. Occasional lift in the swing. Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 79.4 mph. 330' max distance. Arm: LH. INF-85 mph. OF-85 mph. Glove pat into the throw, lower arm slot. Defense: Good feel around the 1B bag, solid footwork. ATH: 7.80 runner in the 60. 3.08 and 5.46 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Braydin Jones SS / RHP / University School of Jackson, TN / 2027
Positional Profile: SS/RHP Body: 5-11, 175-pounds. Tall lean frame with proportional limbs, projectable strength gain as he grows. Hit: RHH. Begins with a simple setup with slightly open feet. Small stride forward and lands with hands cocked. Good connection with upper and lower body as swing goes. Good batspeed drives balls towards the middle of the field, with a tendecy to loose the barrel below the ball. 70.3 mph bat speed with 12 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 82.2 mph. 243' max distance. Arm: RH. INF-84 mph. Easy, whippy arm action and strength with lots more to come. Defense: Gets to ball well with athletic actions and smooth footwork. ATH: 7.54 runner in the 60. 1.73 in the 10 yard split. 22.60 max vertical.

Gunner Warren SS / 2B / East Robertson High School, TN / 2027
Positional Profile: SS/2B Body: 5-9, 150-pounds. Smaller, leaner and athletic build. Hit: LHH. Even stance, higher hand set. Toe tap into the swing, devloping pop at the plate. Middle of the field BP. Power: 84 max exit velocity, averaged 69.0 mph. 307' max distance. Arm: RH. INF-80 mph. Athletic arm with strength. Defense: Gets around the ball well, moves well laterally. Clean. ATH: 7.66 runner in the 60. 3.04 and 5.39 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Rylan Jessee OF / 3B / Baylor , TN / 2027
Positional Profile: OF/3B Body: 5-9, 204-pounds. Current strength especially in lower half, with good athletic movements. Hit: RHH. Balanced stance with feet just past shoulder width, hands above shoulder with barrel 45 degrees behind his head. Small leg lift and stride forward before the lower half explodes forward. Driving into frontside and often coming off the ground forward. Sprays hard line drives all around the field with a on-plane bat path. Pulls the ball with authority with some juice. T96 and 346 is a great base that creates a high ceiling that will be fun to watch. 71.9 mph bat speed with 14 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 96 max exit velocity, averaged 85.4 mph. 346' max distance. Arm: RH. OF-80 mph. Quick arm produces accurate throws with an over the top angle. Defense: Gets to ball easily, gains good momentum through. ATH: 7.58 runner in the 60. 1.80 in the 10 yard split. 23.20 max vertical.

Garrett Stephens OF / 2B / Collierville, TN / 2027
Positional Profile: OF/2B Body: 5-6, 140-pounds. Compact frame that shows extremely athletic movements with good fast twitch instincts. Hit: LHH. Works with a no-stride setup, feet wide with bent knees. Front knee turns inward as hands push back before the body lauches at footplant. Turns around the center of the body. Drives the ball with authority with a middle of the field approach. Quick hands allow him to catch the ball out front with pullside pop that will develop significantly as he ages. 66.4 mph bat speed with 12 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 87 max exit velocity, averaged 82.0 mph. 327' max distance. Arm: RH. OF-82 mph. Quick over the top arm action, expect continued devleopment of arm strength. Defense: Good stutter step before coming trhough the ball. Gets a good crowhop to create momentum. ATH: 7.29 runner in the 60. 1.77 in the 10 yard split. 27.10 max vertical.

Mason Borders SS / RHP / Lipscomb Academy, TN / 2027
Positional Profile: SS/RHP Body: 5-11, 175-pounds. Hit: LHH. Pre-pitch starts tall with feet shoulder width apart. Sinks into back leg with a forward stride with notable drop in eye level. Hands are held by shoulder blades well resisting forward move, creating a good rubber band action before launch. Rotates on back leg well through the swing. Barrel turns well behind him, allowing him to stay on plane with a present ability to drive the ball the other way. Has more power on the way as he develops physically. 62 mph bat speed with 12 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 80.4 mph. 282' max distance. Arm: RH. INF-77 mph. Clean and quick arm. Has continued to develop. Low 3/4 slot with on-line target throws. Defense: Good footwork with good glove presentation. Moved to ball with confidence with clean movements. Showed good balance working to his backhand with low croutched gather. ATH: 7.32 runner in the 60.
