Nashville Summer ID: Quick Hits

Hunter Martin
TN Scouting Director

NASHVILLE, TN - The Prep Baseball Tennessee Nashville Summer ID was held on Tuesday, June 4th at Lipscomb Academy. Players went through an extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to get numbers and metrics on TrackMan during game play. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing at the event.

Kicking off our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look at some of the standouts from the event. Below you will find scout notes, video and more from the Nashville Summer ID.

QUICK HITS

+ Colin WIlbon (‘25, Lausanne) The rising senior from Lausanne Collegiate School had a very impressive showing at Lipscomb academy on tuesday. Wilbon showed off some premier athleticism in all facets of the game, running a 6.84 60 yard dash and having plus arm strength at 88 across the infield. Wilbon showed off above average range in the INF with great glovework and arm strength that can stick on the left side of the field. At the plate the switch hitter showed present juice from both sides of the plate with an impressive pull side bomb from the left side. From both sides of the plate he has an athletic stance, a small leg lift and quiet hands proceed an aggressive turn through the zone. The middle infielder has established strength in his lower half that produced a max exit velo of 95, with 75 mph average bat speed. The great athlete is off to a great start as he looks for a big summer season heading into his senior year.

+ Joshua Duggin (‘27, Sigel) The freshmen had a very impressive appearance in Nashville and put himself on the radar of our staff in what was his first showcase. Coming in with a very physical 6 '1 and 205 lbs Duggin, who throws lefty and swings it from the right side, was very smooth in the field at first base with firm throws across the diamond. On the mound the southpaw was up to 80 with over 20 inches of induced vertical break and developing feel for the SL and CH. Where he was truly impressive however, was at the plate. The right handed hitter works with a very simple swing with minimal movement, a small footlift and his hands moving into a loaded position launches the swing. Duggin produced standout blast metrics with 75 mph average bat speed and an average rotational acceleration of 28 G’s(max of 38 G’s!!). He made the park look small with easy pop and an event-best distance of 375 feet. Already showing plus power for his age, he can unlock so much more in learning how to use his lower half. Having exceptional rotational strength, he still can learn to properly engage his legs, incorporating more of a load in his swing will greatly increase his power and when he does I want to be there to see it.

+ Mason Borders (‘27, Lipscomb Academy) The young shortstop and pitcher is coming off of an exceptional performance in the game portion of last week's Top Prospect games that saw him collect multiple hits. Borders brings a very projectable frame with great athleticism that currently comes in at 5 '11 and 175 lbs. Has good speed currently running in the sub 7 range, which projects much lower as he grows. Has quick hands in an athletic swing that saw him produce on the varsity squad this spring. A very smooth left handed swing showed a great ability to use the opposite field (bp thrower was wearing out the outer half) with 80.1 avg EV and 89 max EV.  Having great athleticism presently he is one to watch as his body and athleticism develops further.
