Chattanooga Summer ID: Positional Player Reports

Prep Baseball Tennessee Staff

CHATTANOOGA, TN - The Prep Baseball Tennessee Chattanooga Summer ID was held on Wednesday, July 3rd at Chattanooga State CC in Chattanooga, TN. Players went through an extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to get numbers and metrics on TrackMan during a bullpen setting. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing at the event.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look at the scouting reports on all postional players from the event.

Hit: RHH. Balanced athletic stance with his knees bent, hands begin loose at shoulder height with the bat relaxed behind his head. A small rearward move before a small stride launches the swing as he goes. Quick hands, has an advanced feel for letting the ball get deep into the zone. Will grow into very good power as he develops into his frame. 65.6 mph bat speed with 7 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 88.4 max exit velocity, averaged 78.7 mph. 300' max distance.
Arm: RH. OF-83 mph. Above average arm for class, longer 3/4 slot that is still developing, projects to be a plus arm as a upperclassman.

Hit: RHH. Athletic stance with knees bent with feet way past soulder width. Hands begin in a neutral spot towards the back of his body. A small stride and forward move launches the swing. Finishes hard over the top, drives balls back up the middle. Had trouble getting on-time at times, but will come with added strength and reps. 63.8 mph bat speed with 7 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 78 max exit velocity, averaged 65.5 mph. 246' max distance.

Power: 87 max exit velocity, averaged 69.1 mph. 235' max distance.
Arm: LH. OF-72 mph. Developing arm strength. Firm throws with on-target carry.

Positional Profile: LHP/OF
Body: 5-9, 165-pounds. Very athletic frame with longer extremities, very projectable to hold great athletiicism going forward as he grows and develops.
Hit: RHH. Tall and slightly open with his feet pre-pitch, a minimal load with the lower half starts the swing with a small stride forward and back to even with the feet. Immediately drops his shoulder as the swing is about to start. Needs to focus on getting out front and on top of the ball in order to produce hard hit line drives. High tee back in his stance will help him stay in the correct position. He moves well rotationally and will develop very well. 65.4 mph bat speed with 14 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 72.1 mph. 251' max distance.
Arm: RH. OF-70 mph. A still developing arm shows a slingshotty low 3/4 release. Plenty more strength to come down the line.

ATH: 7.22 runner in the 60. 1.70 and 5.06 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

River Downs, Silverdale Baptist (TN), 2028
Positional Profile: 3B/2B
Body: 5-10, 150-pounds. Medium build with leaner build-up at present, projectable frame as he develops.
Hit: RHH. Begins with an ahtletic looking stance with his knees bent. Has a big weightshift rearward that loads his backside. Seems to rush through his load to launch which can put him into un-ideal positions. Good feel for hard contact gap to gap, tendency to loose his direction and spin off. Best contact comes from staying right center. 61.8 mph bat speed with 6 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 74 max exit velocity, averaged 66.7 mph. 252' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-68 mph. Is still developing arm strength, arm works smoothly through his motion and produces accurate throws.
Defense: Glove presentation with some developing to do as he matures. Lets the ball attack him as he can sit back at times. Stays high with his chest which causes delay when getting into his throw. Worked well to his gloveside.
ATH: 8.26 runner in the 60. 1.92 and 5.76 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Hit: RHH. Very wide stance with his knees bent, hands begin up above the shoulders in a good position. Has a small stride that starts the swing, the bat goes from a very vertical position as the swing goes. Very vertical turn behind the body and through the zone creates a short path through the zone at times. Showed flashes of staying through the zone and producing hard line drives through the middle of the field. 62 mph bat speed with 9.5 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 78.7 max exit velocity, averaged 68.6 mph. 261' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF velo 71 mph. Accurate throws from an over the top action.

Positional Profile: OF/SS
Body: 5-7, 120-pounds. Smaller and very lean frame at present that still has lots of physical development in front of him.
Hit: RHH. Wide and athletic looking stance that is slightly open with his feet. Hands have good and loose actions as he gest into a loaded postition and as the swing launches. Can occasioanlly get too big with his hand movements causing him to not be on time. Worked up the middle with solidly hit line drives. Had a tendency to drop the head of the bat and get under it, an easy fix with more strength and barrel control. 56.8 mph bat speed with 6 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 77 max exit velocity, averaged 68.1 mph. 215' max distance.
Arm: RH. OF-79 mph. Slingshotty 3/4 arm action, very good arm for grade.

Arm: RH. C-76 mph. Quick release with an very solid arm behind the dish.
Defense: 2.08-2.28 pop times. Does a very good job pushing off of his backside and gaining momentum towards second. Shows very good feel for blocking and recieving. ATH: 7.23 runner in the 60. 1.75 and 5.08 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Tucker Lanning, Polk County (TN), 2025
Positional Profile: 1B/RHP
Body: 6-3, 230-pounds. XL frame with present strength throughout, still developing athleticism.
Hit: RHH. Narrow slightly open stance, tall in his posture before striding. His hands begin extended behind his body at shoulder height. Minimal move rearward before a small that sees his hips open a click too early. Slightly upward swing through the zone, has a tendency to get on top of of the with hard line drives. Natural backspin when drives the bottom of the ball. Is leaving alot of the power on the table, can resist his forward move with his hands better to create more separation. With his front hip opening early as well. Finding a way to get into his legs more (possibly by getting wider) will allow for his body to put itself in the right sequence order as it goes, playing better into his natural launch and backspin. 70 mph bat speed with 22 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 93.6 max exit velocity, averaged 79.0 mph. 309' max distance.
Arm: RH. 77 mph. Clean arm action with higher 3/4 slot. Gets downhill plane with backspin behind the ball.

Power: 78 max exit velocity, averaged 73.1 mph. 224' max distance.
Arm: RH. C-68 mph. OF-76 mph. Very short and quick arm action into an overthe top slot.
