West TN Prospect Games: Team Royal Corner Infielders

The West Tennessee Prospect Games took place on August 16 at USA Baseball Stadium and afforded close to 50 players from around the state to showcase their abilities in a combination showcase/game play event. The following is a look at the corner infielders who participated for Team Royal at the event.

Ladarius Williams, 2016, Brighton , 1B
The 5 foot 11, 190-pound prospect posted a 7.40 60 time and had a 76 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively, Williams showed short arm action, accuracy on throws, soft hands, fluid footwork around the bag and shows good overall athletic ability at first base. Offensively, Williams has fast bat speed from the left side and had an 87 mph exit velocity off the tee. Williams hits from an open setup, has a short stride, explodes from his lower half while maintain good balance, line drive type hitter with flashes of gap power. Williams went 1-for-4 during game play and had an impressive round of batting practice. He has a disciplined but aggressive approach at the plate.

Baylor Jones, 2019, Grace Christian Academy, 1B
The 5 foot 10, 165-pound prospect posted an 8.06 60 time and had a 74 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively, Jones shows good hands with average footwork around the bag. Offensively, Jones has average bat speed from the right side and had a 77 mph exit velocity off the tee. Jones hits from a balanced setup, can get more consistent involvement from lower half, gets to front side early at times, Jones is a line drive type hitter with a pull approach and went 2-for-5 during game play, young prospect to keep an eye on as he continues to develop.
